Edit to my Edit above, J10's 3rd red wire is to the Nav unit (I have a base model 2004, so I didn't have the 3rd wire)

@OBJUAN , if you have a nav unit, it will not show on the newer MFD, the 2004-05's used RGB video, later models (06-09) used standard video (and maybe digital from the nav unit)

It doesn't get to J36 cause there are no wires in 5E2 or 5N14 and no male pin in the IJ3-22 jack but the female pin is in place in the plug of IJ3-22 and I do have continuity to J10. So there will be my connection, I'll pull the pin. For the record, the large pins in the M13 connector are a perfect match for J36, a mute point now..... For the camera I'll run a new cable directly to the MFD, so I won't have to fart around with these crazy junctions;o)

No Nav unit, camera is the mate to the MFD from the donor car. Assuming the camera is good, should work...

Done, IJ3-22 is completely open and orange jumper run from red wire to a solder joint on a salvage M13 pink wire.
Confirmation of switched battery in reverse gear. All we need now is the wiring for the camera. Might try a short
patch cable to test it while I wait for the shielded cable to arrive.....

    GOOD NEWS EVERYONE....

    Found a Prius G2, with a camera!
Attached is the photo I used for the template.
I made model with some HVAC sheet metal to test the template first.

I stuck two disc magnets with double back tape on the inside surface of the hatch just so
there is a quick way to attach the template with a couple more magnets. Trim out the template
so you can draw the cut out area on the hatch then remove the template and tape off the work
area. I drilled a 3/8" pilot hole and used a nibbler tool to munch away the bits. It has to be use
upside down so you can't see what your biting off. So go slow and finish with a file. The camera
mounting holes I'll do last with some riv-nuts. That will wait until I get my cable and connect to the
MFD. If needed make position adjustments then bolt it in..... until then...

They had two units on the lot.
First one, I think was an 06, no hole.
Second was a taxi, wanted to look at the MFD and Map Light Assembly but theres a wasp nest in the car.
Didn't want to find out if I'm allergic, there'll be other opportunities. They wanted $75 for the camera. Ended
up buying the cable and a couple cargo tie downs for $10. I'll have a good length of wire to work with at least.
I should have cut off the other end connector...

Anyway, thank you for the great info. Made the transition less painful.
Hopefully Dagnabbit has good success as well.
I will post updates when the camera cable gets in.....)

    I
Just saw this while browsing the threads. The alerts didn’t notify me. Great job! I’m going to study the images some more. Hopefully for me it’s a measure twice cut once scenario.

:oops:I just took a hole saw and mangled the sheet metal until I could shove the camera in and used the bolts to hold it in the proper place. :ashamed::oops:

photos of today....first one is a trickle charger I made. Maintains/conditions my spare pack 224v-227v.
Mechanical relay isolates the output. Will not operate unless it sees about 180v and opens if
the HV drops out. Then an HV MOSFET will pulse charge, average about 140ma....

Camera connector, little clip on the side releases from camera.
Guy had cut it off there instead of unplugging it. I spliced it to the new cable.

    M13 & M14, camera spliced in.

    Pic of working camera.

Still have to wire the MFD for the bluetooth to radio/speakers and the
map light console for the bluetooth microphone. Haven't sorted out M14 1-4 yet.
Also have the garage opener mirror to wire up.........

I had ordered 10mtrs of cable, should have ordered 15mtrs. Running the cable along the race
ways of the running board takes more cable than the roof-liner route but lots of sharp edges up there.

Golden rule of mobile installs, "absolutely no cables underfoot" or you'll be doing it over....

Print out the hatch photo with the hole, then check if the distance on the photo is the same 1:1.
If not adjust the print scale. Then line up the two hole on the hatch as landmarks. The camera hole
will be very close to original <2mm, mark it and then a chassis nibble tool to cut it out a little smaller
and finish with a file. Will need shims or washers under the camera mounting holes, hovers about
4mm above the surface. I haven't bolted mine in yet, the hole is holding the camera by its snaps right now.

Here is a link where someone has uploaded the 2004-05 wiring diagram. Wire Diagram If you have a JBL radio, look starting at Pg. 331. If you do not have JBL, start at Pg. 339.
The 2004-05 radios do not have the input for the Bluetooth connection from your MFD, but if the radio has a button with AUX on it, there is an external CD connector that is not shown on the wiring diagram that might be usable. (If you look on eBay/Amazon, there are iPod integration boxes for sale that use this connector.) I think there has to be some signal to indicate that there is an AUX device, but I don't know the details. I was considering just getting a newer radio from the Pick'N'Pull and using it.

M14 connector on your 2006-09 MFD:
Pin1 is connected to pin 8 by a brown wire that appears to only connect those two pins.
Pin 1 is labeled as SGND brown wire to pin 8
Pin 2 is labeled as MIN+ (Mic In +) green wire
    Pin 3
is labeled as MIN- (Mic In -) red wire
Pin 4 is labeled as MACC (Mic Accessory Power) brown wire
    Pin 8
is labeled as TSW- (??? -) brown wire from pin 1
The Bluetooth is phone only, no music :(.
M14 pin 24 (SLD) bare shield,
    M14 pin 25 (+) green wire, and
    M14 pin 26 (-) red wire
appear to be the audio out for the Bluetooth, but they connect directly to the JBL Amp, not to the radio.
