I know this is an eternal debate with pro/cons on engine flush... But i came across this video and see for the first time that a toyota endorsed product for engine flush... Check out for : Prior to oil change, with the engine warm, pour the contents of one bottle into the engine oil crankcase. Then run the engine at idle for 15 minutes. Change the oil and replace the oil filter. More on the product: Toyota Engine Oil System Cleaner | Don Valley North Toyota Interesting to see when to apply this product in the video. Not sure for what kind of Toyota it is recommended. But curious as many claims that manufacturers wouldnt recommend engine flush. From Toyota Canada.... maybe in Canada, conditions are different?
Similar to what @Raytheeagle does every oil change with the BG44 something product? Maybe let him compare and explain to us since he has been doing this "flush" for a while?
"Toyota Canada", and "60,000 kms"? I'll maybe check on that stuff. Sounds like a flush to me. You put it in right before an oil change, idle for 15 minutes (maintenance mode?), then do the oil change. Screen grab from our local dealership, kinda pricey:
I use BG Products EPR since our 2010 Prius II with 185 k miles has had 120 k miles. This is added prior to the oil being drained with the engine running at around idle for 10-15 minutes. Was able to compare at one of our local meet ups my drained oil to a standard drain. It was noticeably darker . I also add BG Products Extended Life moa to the fresh oil and every year add 44k to the fuel. Think of 44k as concentrated Techron . Works for me and our Prius .
