So I am looking at replacing my headlight bulbs as the left one seems to be going on its way out and I wanted to replace it with these Aka : VoRock8 - R2 COB H4 HB2 9003 8000LM LED Headlight Conversion Kit Will this fit my car ? Is there any way to find out easily ?
For a 2008 model, the most obvious clue is if your car has fog lights, it has HID. If there are no fog lights, you have halogen headlights. Base, Package #1, #2, #3 cars have halogen. Base #4, #5, #6 PLUS all Touring models have HID and fog lights. Now that's not 100% certain because it is possible to ADD fog lights to cars with Halogen headlights.
I really appreciate this help. I ended up finding these and ordered them as I found they fit the DR4 headlights. I will update with before and after photos. These are the ones I went with ^
So I ended up looking up the information and found out that I have the 2008 HI Prius package ( I used the process of elimination on the parts I know I have in my car to the ones I don't )
@ZeroDigit , go to the Toyota Owner site here: Vehicle Information Lookup (you should also register as the owner of the car here: Toyota Owners Registration and check for open recalls!), to see what package you have, then go to this VERY helpful thread by @Tideland Prius in the Knowledge Base: 2G Prius (2004-2009) Standard and Optional Equipment (Some Countries) You can find plenty of great info on your Prius!
Well, my friend.....you get what you pay for and you don't get what you don't pay for.............. There's some really good threads on the forum about HID bulbs, brands and quality. I personally replaced both of my HID headlamps 1.5 years ago using Philips D4R bulbs purchased from Home Depot online for $51 each (3x that price at the dealer). Guaranteed and verified to be genuine Philips, which was used as OEM. I hope they work well for you, as the bulbs are typically a pain in the *** to swap out if you have gorilla hands, and only a pain in the neck if smaller than a gorilla.
