I just bought my 2011 Prius and thought I had set the navigation to take me where I needed to go. However, at the turn to exit the highway the voice said that it could no longer direct me, even though I had an icon showing the address I needed to go. So MS, Prius abandoned me when I needed her to show me the way in a residential area. Fortunately, not trusting that I had programmed Navi right I printed Mapquest to get to my destination. Is this normal? Or did I not complete the programming?
It's junk, great selling/marketing gimmick. Its only great when your smartphone data andor gps satellite signals are out of range. That's when you get on the prius GPS last ditch effort. I don't even use it, just keep a tablet with offline storage maps. I'm thinking about one day pulling the gps antenna off once and for all.
Sounds like the area has incomplete data. That's usually when you get the "Your route includes roads with incomplete data. Turn-by-turn navigation may not be possible in these areas" voice message. (For me, it was a gravel road).
The Gen 3 Prius has the worst GPS and infotainment system I have ever seen. It is pathetic that such a piece of crap is in such an advanced car. The next time I buy a hybrid, the Prius will be at the bottom of my list. My friend has a Honda and the prius doesn't even come close. Even the Hyundai is far superior.
