FINALLY! Today, in the parking lot at work, when I arrived at 1:40pm, was a white Prime Premium with its plastic wheel covers off. I always knew the first other Prime I'd spot in the wild would be right there in the lot where I can always count on seeing 10 Prii and 2 Teslas, at any given time. I've even seen 2 silver Bolts, next to each other, but up to now, never a Prime. Didn't see the owner, but I'll bet I spot the same car there again.

After I saw my first Prime at our local commuter rail station, I used my word processor to print out a welcome message on paper which I could put in the driver's door just to say "hello." I trimmed the print out to about the size of a 3x5 file card.

    Hello-Card.jpg

I'm not sure if any of the owners ever checked in here, but it seemed like a nice gesture.

I saw a couple yesterday. A gray one even flashed its lights at me to acknowledge our mutual primes. That was pretty cool considering when I see flashing lights, it’s usually a copper ahead warning. Lol.

I parked next to a beautiful red Prime at REI in Plano last night. Woo hoo!

You lucky dogs. If I had one of those signs to put on a windshield it would turn yellow with age before I saw a Prime other than mine.

I predict #3 will appear in just a few short days. I have been through the Prime desert. Oasis ahead.

I know I'm off topic here, what's new, but the other day I saw 4 Maseratis and an Alfa Romeo and not a single Prime! Go figure!

I get a kick out of how genuinely excited we all are when we see other primes on the road. Just wish when we pass each other, we could pull over for a couple minutes and chit chat about the car. Lol.

Exactly. I confess that when I took the above picture of the silver Prime, I kinda lounged around for a little while taking pictures of non-Prime things, expecting the owner to walk by and open up the car. I'd bet real money he/she was already a Prius owner before this car and traded up, just like I did.

We were on a brief holiday this weekend to visit friends in Kelowna, BC and suddenly behind us is a white Prime! First one we've come across since we picked up ours at the end of June. It seemed to follow us nearly to where our friends live so they must be in the neighborhood. I've given up seeing another one in Alberta for at least the next 2 years....

Incidentally, the trip from our house to Kelowna is 1068km round trip and we did it on one tank of gas and two charge-ups with fuel to spare when we got home. This includes going over two mountain passes each way (love how it charges going down mountain passes!)

That's fantastic! The most I've done is 952km and you've done 1068km including the trip back to AB (mine was a one way from AB so it was a net elevation loss). I lament the fact that my regular Prius' battery fills up so quickly on the downhill portions. The Prime's bigger battery definitely can take better advantage of it. How much do you recharge by the time you hit Golden or Kelowna?

What I did on this trip is I let the traction battery get down to 5% before switching over to HV (seems like whenever I let it go to 0% it doesn't seem to take a charge and stays in hybrid mode after that unless I put it in charge mode manually). IIRC I think from Field down to Golden it went from 5% to 25% and then from Roger's Pass to Revelstoke (I had it down to 5% again at Roger's Pass), it got back to 40%, which I thought was great! We stayed at a hotel in Salmon Arm on the way down that had a complimentary car charging station.

I did a *lot* of shifting back and forth from D to B to HV to EV on this trip, depending on the steepness of the highway. Hopefully these cars are ok with that. I think that's what helped with the mileage (it's also a great way to keep your brain occupied on the 6 hour drive!)

Our friends live high above Kelowna in Kettle Valley and we charged there before heading home. Because they live so high up, we traveled nearly 15 km before the traction battery moved off of 100%. Our friends took it for a test drive and fell in love with it as well. We were very pleased with the results of this road trip. We used 40L of fuel on this trip vs. 120L on the same trip last year with our KIA Rondo.

I just got my Prime less than a month ago. I know if one other in the area - and it is owned by a friend of mine. I am sure that there are others, I just haven't seen them.

And, of course, wouldn't you know it - I was driving around this past weekend, and sure enough - I see another - the exact color of mine.

That's what happened when I got by blue 2011 Prius II - I had never seen a blue Prius until then. After that, they were all over the place!

A couple of firsts this past weekend. I saw two Primes in one day. The first was a gray one in a grocery store parking lot. It was gone when I came out. Then soon after, I was looking for garage sales in my neighborhood, and followed a sign. While I didn't find the sale, I did see a house with its garage door open and inside was a Blue Magnetism (just like mine)! So there is another one right in my neighborhood.

Wow, 40% down to Revy! Yeah that section, I *only* got 3.9L/100km on the Gen 3 but 0.0L/100km is better! (plus the additional 40% of battery to drive towards Sicamous).

Then, on the way home yesterday I saw another blue one near my neighborhood parked in front of a house. I think they must have greater availability around here in recent months, since the sightings are becoming more frequent!

Saw my first prime in the wild making a left turn across from the Marriott courtside road on 12 mile near orchard lake road in Farmington hills Michigan, I waved as he was making his left turn in front of me
