I saw some post about activating Siri using the telephone buttons on the steering wheel. I tried that on my Advanced but did not get it to work . Anyone have a sequence to get it to work on the Advaned? Also, did I hear there is a way to receive your txt msg’s on the 11 inch screen?
I enabled the "show notifications" option in the Bluetooth settings of my iPhone. Now when a text message comes in, I get a notification on the 11 inch screen and there is the option for the car system to read the message. Not sure about activating Siri, but would love to know if that's possible too -- certainly would be helpful for replying to texts!
And you have to have the audio source set to whatever your phone is on, bluetooth for me, otherwise you can't hear Siri. (I don't think it's supposed to be like that, but it is on my car)
Maybe. I don't usually listen to the radio, so I can't say for sure. I listen to a USB Flash drive (audiobook), so maybe that's different for some reason.
I can hear siri regardless of the current radio mode. it simply mutes everything (it's basically making a phone call to your phone).
That is my understand of what *should* happen, but it doesn't in my car. Making a call works like that, but not Siri.
A side question on this - it does not appear that you can do voice-to-text to reply to a text message. Is that true, or am I just missing something?
Not sure about replying to an existing text message. What I did was to activate Siri by pressing the phone pickup button on the steering wheel for a few seconds (as suggested above by another poster) and then spoke the text message I wanted to send to the person who sent me a text. Not an elegant solution, but seemed to work.
I have personally used voice-to-text to reply to text messages using Siri on the Prime. It works... 1) Long press the "make a call" button to activate Siri. You'll hear the familiar "two tone" noise to speak to Siri. 2) Say "read my text messages" (or something like that) to Siri 3) After Siri reads the text message, it will ask you if you want to reply. After you speak the reply, Siri will read your reply back to you and ask you if you want to send it 4) If you're OK with the reply, say "yes" and it will send
I have enabled the show notifications on my iPhone but nothing on the 11 inch screen. Can you take a picture of a notification on you screen and post it. I would be curious to see what it looks like. Thx, Ben
Enable siri and simply say "reply"... that will reply to the last received text message. NOTE: I was extremely frustrated by the apparent lack of ability to reply to a text message... I was so used to doing this in my Gen 3 when connected to my windows phone (after reading the message it asked me if I wanted to reply). Finally I just said F' it, hit siri and yelled "reply" in frustration... be damned if it didn't work!
