That's EXACTLY what I was thinking of: same hat, same expression. Speaking of avatars: @bisco has one, wonders never cease. (y)

Probably an optical illusion as he was trying to not capture the license plates.

What's the best way to check the part number on the yellow label while the part is installed in the car? Some kind of a mirror on a stick? Stick your phone underneath and try and take a pic?

I don't think there's room to get one in there. From the engine bay I can barely see the corner of the yellow sticker. I'm guessing you have to disassemble the car, yank the part to get the number off it then order it but I don't know any mechanics that want a immobile car sitting around for a few days to a week waiting for a part.

Can Toyota look up part numbers by the VIN?

Edit: went to onlinetoyotaparts.com and plugged in my VIN then browsed to ABS section and found the diagram for the accumulator, the part # they gave was 4707047060. I've seen some ebay auctions for a 2010 Prius with part 4707047050, off by 10 digits. I've also seen some on ebay with the part number that onlientoyotaparts.com provided.

Yep bought this one, hope I can grab the actual part # and match it.

Is the part # on the yellow label or elsewhere on the part?

I wouldn't fret a whole lot about the accumulator part number, as long as it's not one of the recalled ones.

There was a recent thread about obsessively matching actuator part numbers, which might make sense especially in Gen 3, where the actuator is quite a sophisticated part and includes a computer, and the computer has firmware, and the firmware has versions.

The accumulator, though, is an electric pump that pushes brake fluid into a bottle. As long as it does push the fluid into the bottle, and the fluid stays in the bottle until you use it (and the nitrogen in the bottle stays in the bottle, period), it is doing what an accumulator does. :)

Thanks for the info, I thought there was some talk around here about people matching the exact part numbers of the accumulators to match the one in the car to avoid programming but as you pointed out that's the actuator. At this point I think I'm going to try replacing the accumulator first since that seems to be the common culprit with C1391 error codes.

I have some good news. I sent a letter to Toyota corporate, and with all the complaints they’ve been receiving, they decided to update the Toyota Safety Bulliten to include the additional Prius’ that weren’t previously covered in the C1391 or brake issue. So my $4500 repair bill ended up being $0! I suggest everyone to take their Prius to Toyota if they hadn’t been covered before, you will now. Cheers!

Wow, that's big news. I was about to start repairing mine myself. Do you have this in writing? If so can you share?

I was able to confirm there is indeed a new customer support program for 2010 prius that were outside the original recall VIN range. Just take your car to a dealer and they will diagnose and fix it free if that is indeed the issue.

Dropping mine off tomorrow 7 am

Good news! Anybody find a TSB or campaign number for that?
