oh, OK, that is a good question! If it's a mechanical odometer, you would have to pull it and look for arks on the case indicating someone tried to open the case. the electrical type, I don't know. I assumed they would be hard to reprogram.
There's a service mentioned on here that replaces odometer units and programs them to match the same mileage as the broken one... I suspect that business would be able to check for that...
The best way to check if the ODO has been rolled back significantly, is to use electronic record service history. Does Carfax do that? Or use the Toyota owner’s website to see the service history. It is very obvious that the combination meter has been played with, when the mileage jumps back. [EDIT] Not sure what you will have available in Slovakia (is there a CarFax type service?), but I hope you get the gist of what I’m saying.
