Regular Gen 4 Facelift, it will look more like the Prime by having the same taillight design and using the same headlights.

But. fortunately, it is missing the "big black grille" treatment of other Toyota and, especially, Lexus vehicles now.

kept out of the subjective 'looks' / 2019 revamp thread so far ... but yea, there are a lot of web pages giving ugly looks comments - which simply serves to inflame those who like it or corroborate those who don't. Looks can help sales ... or
hurt 'em. Our Gen II was no looker - but its saving grace was its stratosphere EPA, that no one was even considering trying to touch at the time. Now? Lots of manufacturers are in the same Prius EPA ball park. If the gen4 look is supposed to appeal to a Sub40 age buyer - well there are less buyers now days in that group buying new cars. So cost, performance, & looks all play a factor in sales going up or down - imo. Plus gas costs/surpluses? Eco & looks alone make for a hard sell ... maybe the next rabbit Toyota may want to try to pull out of their hat might have be a 50mpg full size awd SUV & have it also get 30-40 ev miles. THAT will definitely bring buyers beating a path to their door. More so than nice features, great epa #'s & polarizing looks.

a plug in rav4 might do well it the plug in segment. but 'buyers beating a path to the door' might be going overboard.

Reading article that the US has a large surplus of crude and gas right now so don't expect that $4/gal surge in buying eco-cars just yet.

If they would just let the control laws in POWER mode torque the wheels to the edge of 'spin', it would do more than anything else to change perception.

Just speaking for myself: I don't even look at the price at the pump, whether it's up or down I'm always playing the mpg game. Also, I think I would go nuts, sitting in a car that idles on-and-on at red lights.

Ikr lol, most cars now have "stop and go" tho, but it would bring me nuts also. I was thinking to switch car to a 2013 BMW 3 series, but the only 3 series that looks at all appealing is the 2016 330e cause its also a hybrid lol, only problem is the price, just need to wait 2 more years and their price will be in the toilet, BMW`s depreciates in value so fast and so much on such a short time. I think my prius has ruined me for life... I dont think i can go back to a normal car.

And a Plug in Rav4 wouldve been cool, toyota did make the EV Rav4 in 2012 i think... as a collaboration with tesla, i have no idea why they stopped production tho.

Maybe have a chat with @raspy - who did much the same - but he went to the Mercedes C Class equivalent to the 330e.

I have been thinking about that also, but since im stubborn AF (and dont have money right now LOL), i just cant stand the C-class... I mean.. its a beautiful car on the outside, but the interior kinda dissapointed me... the infotaiment screen and stuff... The new E-class looks perfect, id even take a E-class over a S-class cause of its interior design. Even the A-class got an amazing interior, but on the C-class in my opinion, it just looks like Mercedes tried to make it look worse than the E-class on purpose, it just had to be different so they "ruined" it.
but yea, i have no idea when i will change car either...

Here, we have an up/down cycle over about 3-4 weeks at random. It had been about $1.38/litre at all pumps - but I saw one brand went to $1.60 on Wednesday when I drove past - next one had $1.38 so filled up. $8 in my account is a better option.

We can track it - but only AFTER the event - the trick is to fill just before it rises again. Like Gold Lotto.

It was just a compliance car, and never sold outside of California. When the set number of Rav4's were made Toyota chose not to renew the contract. The Mirai was released not too long after that.

Never sold outside california? it was sold in EU, there is quite a few of em here in Norway. Or maybe they were imported... When i come to think of it they all have red marking lights in the rear and yellow in the front... which EU toyota`s normally dont have because we r not required to have them.
(which is quite stupid, marking lights on the side, expecially red in the rear is genius, cause then people at the side of u know which way ur car is standing, here in Norway the idiots r the states road authority try to force people to change the red rear marker to orange, and they have no reason for it what so ever, but now that BMW and Volvo have started with marking lights int he rear and front theyd have to back off and make a new law that says marking lights is legal if its in the head and tailight housing, which i dont understand why it is at all... WHy cant they be outside...
Norway`s states road authority have always been against american cars for some stupid reason... i can tell alot of stories on how stupid they r lol, but that would be way to much for a comment.)

I also guess that the Rav4 EV looked to special for many people with its huge EV badges everywhere. They should collab with Tesla again, and make an electric rav4 again, that doesnt look as special.

California dealers that had the it were selling outside of state until Toyota said quit it.

I don't think Tesla needs the help anymore, so any future Toyota BEV will be in house, or with someone else.

I think a collaboration to make an outstanding suv would benefit both companies, only reason i thought of toyota collaborating with tesla is cause of their batteries and motors.

That's why they and Mercedes did it in the first place, But Toyota ended it once the order of Rav4 EVs was filled; the car was available for only two to three years. I also think they sold off all their shares in Tesla too. Toyota was and still appears to be focused on hydrogen FCEVs.

Then they don't need Tesla if they did decide to make a worthy BEV. They already possess the means for an EV drive train and batteries through their hybrid and FCEV investments. Toyota's hold up over making a fine BEV isn't because of their technical abilities.

I didn't realise that - but you're right - WIKI says "On June 5, 2017, Toyota announced that it had sold all of its shares in Tesla and halted cooperation, as Toyota created their own electric car division"

Funny seeing people talking about the Rav4ev without real knowledge. I got one in my garage and most of you guys “missed it by that much”. Experience is like “Who Killed the Electric Car”, 10 years later after the movie.... still. You think getting service is slow with Tesla.... this car service is even slower from Toyota. Hahaha.

Toyota made 2600 of this car just for CA only so they can continue to sell cars in CA. Paid Tesla $60 millions to supply parts and design help. Tesla chose the Rav.

Dealers forced us to sign a contract to not move it out of state, as Toyota would not service these cars with only 50ish authorized dealers in CA.... some owners later sold to Arizona and Oregon.... then Washington state.... and eventually to Norway.... and even Middle East.

Funny thing was.... price bottomed about 4 months ago. One could get one for a 3 years old car for a little more than $15k, when most of the lease ended. Prices has gone back up about $20k.

This car is the best ev, not named Tesla. Best ev SUV not named Tesla too.

100 miles on 80% charge without trying.... way more range than Toyota labeled it.... to discourage sales and be able to bad mouth it to sell you FCV.

Not by "that much" - but by:
    upload_2018-8-11_13-12-37.png

I read about it in Popular Science or Popular Mechanics - but it was never destined to come here - we won't even see the Model 3 till next year at the earliest.

The market here is very happy to keep buying diesel and petrol cars, trucks and SUVs, not particularly concerned about economy.

    It'll come - one day.
