hello guys! i have an '06 prius and it seems to be leaking water (or a liquid similar to it) below the 12 volt battery... is this normal?
Is the liquid leaving a residue? How many miles on your Prius? Original hv battery? Ever opened the pack? Any dash lights? It could be the electrolyte fluid out of a module. But more information will be needed. Good luck and keep us posted .
also, this liquid may be piling up from somewhere else, and i think it is because of rain or something... its about 500grams
Do a search for hatch leaks--the "caulk" in the seams under the hatch (in the water run-off channels around the hatch opening) sometimes develop cracks letting rain water in--it needs to be sealed to prevent potential problems with the HV battery! Edit: Here is one: Water leak...into spare tire area etc
I agree that rain leakage is more likely than battery leakage. Since you need to remove the battery anyway to dry out the battery well, I would dry the battery thoroughly and set it on a bench on a paper towel. Check the paper towel after you finish cleaning up the mess in the car and you'll know. Also, if you're not wearing rubber gloves when cleaning up the liquid in the battery well, you will find out then if it's from the battery.
