Are you a Prius driving musician? If so, what instrument do you play? Trained? Play by ear? Type music?
played the violin for 13 years. it's still upstairs but sadly, i rarely get around to playing it anymore. i played in symphonies and a chamber group, and did a couple of smaller groups in weddings and such. really got into it competitively until other things in my life started taking attention away from it. i look back with fond memories.
I'm a professional classical singer, studied at conservatory, sing in NYC and wherever. I know a cellist with a Prius as well. Susan 04 silver pkge 9
I play piano and guitar. Used to play the violin but I got into it late and never got out of first position. If I played one now it would truely sound like death. I've toyed with the idea of buying a 'cello. Too many hobbies though. Right now I can't really play guitar because of arthritis but I'm hoping to be able to play again soon. Piano is all classical stuff, mostly Beethoven sonatas. Guitar is mainly rock and blue grass with some neo-classical prog-a-billy thrown in for good measure.
Another guitar player here. Like playing R&R mainly with some jazz thrown in here and there. Spent 5 years in my younger days on the road with a bar band. Galaxee has fond memories of her musician days, I have somewhat fuzzy ones. I'm impressed with the classically trained folks.
Guitar-acoustic and electric. Took lessons for two years and now jam at home and with friends. Wish I could sing better so when I do sing and play, I just play louder to drown out my singing. My family and pets don't seem to mind.
Degree in classical composition from Berklee College of Music. Keyboardist with Oingo Boingo back in the day, session player on somewhere around 200 albums and countless movies and TV shows. Now a reasonably successful film composer.

withersea, nice thread! I'm a musician/composer/recording engineer/producer. Classically trained on the piano (24 years). Self taught on the bass guitar (17 years). Many other instruments in the collection that I can "play" but, I only claim to be a piano/bass player. All genres of music....I don't discriminate! We should start the Prius Music Group (PMG). Peace, Toph
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Susan5s @ Aug 8 2006, 12:43 PM) </div> Where do the strings go?
I travelled around for a couple of years doing solo gigs and worked with a few informal band members back in the early 1980s. Now I do a few charity events as "filler" and actually have a couple of tunes that I need to find the right voice for... Oh yea, I play guitar.
Does it count that I am a jazz pianist in my next life??? used to play the guitar and still have it but no time right now....John Scofield and I took lessons from the same person!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Mark M. @ Aug 8 2006, 11:32 PM) </div> Heh heh... I play trombone with the Lexington (MA) Bicentennial Band (http://www.lexbicband.org); I've been playing trombone since 5th grade (1972?). I also play clarinet pretty well, and piano, guitar and flute on occasion.
Are you a Prius driving musician? Yes. If so, what instrument do you play? Guitar Trained? Play by ear? Play by ear, until that hurts, then I use my hands. Type music? Jazz, mostly.
I'm a reformed trombonist myself - it was my major in my first semester at Berklee. Now the old Connstellation sits lonely in the closet.

Percussionist... past life, still play a little drum solo now and again. Jazz, Rock, what ever mood I'm in works too. ~Shawn
