THanks for the offer. I’ll see if I have any cables laying around.

So from what you gathered, it looks like the 4 video connectors aren’t somewhere convenient in the dash area?

How did you locate IQ1 as being the video cable source or termination point?

How do I go about removing the cover below the radio? There is one area you circled by the center console that might be easier to access.

If you look at the wiring diagram, the camera plugs into BK1 (the connector in the back hatch wiring loom) then BH1 (the connector in the roof) to IQ1 (looks like under the seat, but the description says LH floor console) to the 4 pins on the MFD (M14)

Thanks for the clarification. I’m on mobile so I didn’t see the backend BK1 originally with the rear hatch wire loom.

This is going to be an adventure now.

Shouldn't be a problem, without M14, the wires don't connect to anything.

Sorry, I misread the connector location table--IO1 is at the front of the console, IQ1 is only on the floor (appears to be under the driver's seat.) Here is the diagram with better notes:
    Prius_Body_wire_2006.JPG
Here is the description of BH1:
So, where do the camera wires go? We know that you have no M14 connector at the back of the MFD, so the entire dash loom is different. We know that the hatch loom is different, but you found the camera wires on BK2.(I verified that those 4 wires that look like they were added on top of the connector are the camera wires) So the wires go to BH1 (in the roof), do they get to the floor at IQ1?

Oops, realized I left two wires off of the wiring change table--placed here for completeness:

    @ITBland

Thanks for the information! The diagrams you posted are starting to make more sense now.

I purchased the wire tracer device. I’m waiting for the weather to cool down before I start working on the vehicle again.

Also, the newly updated MFD chart You Posted doesn’t have the gray wires highlighted.

The high-res MFD has been working without any issues.

In the mean time I’m going to look for the cd rom cable and stranded wire locally.

    Glad that it is working--
Here is the corrected, corrected wiring.
    Prius_MFD_PinOut.JPG
You want a shielded cable for the camera, at least the V+ red wire should be shielded, but Toyota puts all three wires inside the shield (easier to pull one wire). Regular audio shielded cables usually have one conductor inside the shield, pro microphone cable has two conductors inside the shield, there are some security cables (hardware/home improvement stores should have something) that are shielded (usually four conductor, just don't use the 4th wire.) 18 GA is too big and bulky (while bigger wire is better, it will make the cable stiif and hard to deal with), 22 GA is a little small, but is easier to route (and is OK size-wise), 20 GA would be better.

Please be careful with the wires under the driver's seat, some of the air bag wires are down there. You should disconnect the 12v battery and wait for any residual power to dissipate before probing these wires.
If you locate connector IQ1, the camera wires would be:
    Pin 6 - Camera Power 6v+ (Black)
Pin 7 - Camera Power GND (White)
    Pin 8 - Video + (RED)
Pin 9 - Video - (shield (bare) wire)

    I definitely appreciate the help!

I haven’t had time to look closely at the wires under the seat. Currently I’m not sure if IQ1 is underneath the carpet or in the wire loom attached to the seat.

I couldn’t find an old cd rom audio cable, so I just purchased one on eBay for a few dollars.

No worries about that. Without your help I would have thrown in the towel and gone the aftermarket route.

Hopefully after this, I can finally piece the Prius back together. The rear hatch and front dash have been taken apart for the past couple of months in anticipation for the camera install. This all depends on if I find something else I want to install.... I have the USA spec BT45-toy arriving tomorrow for the Bluetooth install.

It’s been a while. I haven’t really had a chance to dedicate enough time to look for the wire connector.

I did find @CookieGuru post regarding carpet removal. I am hoping the wire connector near the raised cross bar is the one I’m looking for.
    Carpet replacement procedure | PriusChat

My driver side sill is removed in antipaction for the next step.

If I can’t find the connector, what would be the best way to snake wires from the trunk to the front?

I just ran under the door sills on the passenger side and up and over the glove box, but driver’s side shouldn’t be any different

@OBJUAN even though that is from the 2006 wiring diagram, the J10 connector is the same in the 2004-05 wiring diagram--the first three positions (A) are all the backup light feed. The C2 is closer to the MFD, but J10 is easier to work with, especially if the camera wire is going right past it.

Found J10, taped onto the harness. No spare pins, would have to tap into one of them. Went back to J36, only 1 black wire in the first position. Must be the source thats would split off 2 ways: Multi-display and Nav unit. So that will be my target, the larger pins in the M13
connector appear to be the same. Going to test that shortly....)

    :confused:No J36 connector in 2004-05 US edition:confused:--
Edit: Correction: in J31, the three red wires are in from backup relay and out to each backup lamp. J10 is only showing two red wires connected to the "A" position (should have one pin with backup 12v open)
