My satellite radio worked great up until a couple of weeks ago.

Now it keeps losing signal for several seconds and then comes back. Its so bad that I cannot use it anymore.

Does anyone have any idea why this happens?

    THANKS

Ours has never worked well. We live in a forest. If there are trees near you, or tall buildings that can block the signal, it would explain your problems.

No, Im in AZ, its all sky. It worked great until now. Same location just the display that says no satellite signal then after a few seconds the music comes back... only to go away again. Really frustrating.

    SOLVED!.

    I bought this (about $130)

    Genuine Toyota (86960-47011) Antenna Assembly

    I used the guide here....

    wallwatcher.com/Antenna

Its a little bit different because the antenna only has the shorter wire. The replacement comes with a white plug to protect the threads. You need to remove that at the end to screw in the antenna.

You dont need to pull down the entire headliner, there is just enough room when you remove the 3 headliner plugs (I need to replace them now, I broke all 3), lower the dome light assembly (Just push with a little screwdriver at each corner to release the clips. You are pushing from the outside to the inside at each corner), and pull the trim panels from both sides where the headliner tucks into it from the trunk area).

You can pull the wire connector from the metal tab holding them, it just slips on.

Use a tiny screwdriver to remove the antenna plastic end from the clip.

Total took me about 30 minutes.

I knew it was all good when I turned on the radio and it stayed clear in the garage. I didnt have to go outside like I did before to get a signal.

I also didnt have a 22mm socket, but luckily I had the equivalent SAE size to loosen the nut under the radio.

I am by no means mechanically inclined. No way I would pay $600 for this when I managed to get it done for $150 (gotta get new headliner clips).

How do you disconnect the connectors? The won’t budge, and I’ve tried small screwdrivers.
