i just added a link to the main thread on this topic which suggests there might be. All windshields can be damaged, of course. That main thread suggests that the latest generation might be more susceptible to cracks than others. I think that the glass was made thinner to save weight, right?
I just got one from trying to put my sun visor back into the bracket, it slipped and hit the windshield, and now the windshield needs to be replaced. We still have our 2011, but now I'm driving a 2017 Three model. Toyota Prius Windshield Cracks Cause Lawsuit | CarComplaints.com
I bought a used 2016 Prius 2 February of 2016. The windshield had been replaced once before I bought it and I have replaced it twice.
Got my 2018 Four at the beginning of December and I already had a stone smack the windshield and crack it. Luckily it was just localized and Safelite filled it with whatever it is they use to seal a crack, but still. I was pretty mad. Car was two weeks old. Ugh. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
‘17 Prime with 42k miles, on my fourth replacement. Of the four cars I've owned, this is the first that's ever had a broken windshield.
Right around the one year mark of owning this vehicle I had a pretty good stone (saw it) kick up from under a semi in a rainstorm and make hard contact somewhere on my side of the windshield at 86 mph. On later inspection it had hit down under the wiper in the dark glass. Nice star. By the time I got to work a crack had travelled up and into the middle of my road view. This was mid-September 2021, and within three weeks it needed to be replaced again. Strike on the passenger side below the wiper and spread horizontally once again right up into my road view. All insurance, all the time. AZ is rough on glass.
