Will 86110-47230 work instead of 86110-47081 in 2005 Base Model?

Is there a way that I can disable the CD port by snipping certain wires on the M13 pin connector? I am trying to get an aux input I installed to work. It works when the M13 is unplugged, but once I plug it in to the screen the aux stops working. This is on my 2005 Prius

The M13 connector does not have any audio wires, only the data wires that allow the MFD to communicate with the radio (so you can control the fader and EQ, and see the radio and CD info).
What wires (pin numbers) did you use for the Aux input you added? (Or, what cable did you buy?)
Do you have navigation?
Do you have JBL (does the radio have a cassette player)?

 

I plugged an aftermarket aux cable into an empty CD changer port on the back of the radio. I do not have navigation or a cassette player.

 

Gonna have to help me a little here...what aftermarket cable? Is it just a cable, or does it have a little box on it? (with some electronics?) You may not be able to post a link--just type the URL to where you bought it and I'll take a look at it.

Also, If you start your own thread, others may see it and help.

 

Here is a picture of the Aux In/Bluetooth Interface that I was using with my 2004.

next to it is a 12-pin "Y" cable that connects to the same plug on the back of the radio. The wire colors are wildly different.

I would contact the seller and be sure it will work with a 2005 Prius.

Since there are no audio cables in the MFD M13 plug, my best guess is that the Aux-In must be getting turned off after the MFD "talks" to the radio. When you plug the MFD in, does the radio still work?

”) the eBay description says that it works with a 2005 Prius.

UPDATE: We just figured it out! On pin 9 and 10 of the R5 connector we added a 68ohm resistor. This was soldered to a double pull double through switch with the 9 & 10 radio wires in the middle with resistor on one side and the other end of the 9 & 10 from the MFD on the other side of the switch. It’s very crude but it works with some strings attached. In order to use the aux the car has to start with the switch on the resistors side. With the aux activated there is practically no useful function in the MFD. You can switch to the regular state of the MFD but then the aux doesn’t work. Once switched to regular you can’t go back to aux.

 

Glad you got it working, sorry you had to hack the Prius up to do it. Looks like you are disabling the communication channel until the Aux In reports to the radio.

 

I'm adding a OEM camera into my 05. I have from a salvage yard, the camera and 47210 MFD.
The MFD appears to have a similar pinout as the 47230. Thank you guys for posting that!

Has someone posted a photo of the factory knockout in the aluminum sheet metal of the back hatch to make a template?
I will have to run a shielded cable from the hatch to the MFD, the rest should be easy.
Picked up the parts cheap on a whim, $150CDN.
The donor car is 500km from me now.
Had I known the 05 has no knockout, I would have take a pic.Doh!

 

The release is the small holes near the edge of the connector. Check that locking bar is out (pain in the b design). I used a very small jewellers screw driver and push firmly until you feel the pop. Then it comes out easy. Similiar for the orange battery ECU connector.
May even be the same pin part number available from digikey/mouser.

 

There is a physical difference in the 2005 M13 and 2009 M13 connectors, photo attached.
The M14 connector pins works the same on the on the 2009. Trying to identify the tyco pin...

I ran my cable (base 2004 I had at the time) under the passenger door sills so that I could pick up the Rev wire in the footwell, and wire-tied that one wire to the shielded cable.

 

Is the 47210 the later (2009 in this case) MFD with navigation? Are you going to take a stab at the Bluetooth? I added a Bluetooth interface using the external CD connection in the back of the radio instead of trying to use the MFD Bluetooth, which would only have given me phone and not the audio I wanted.

 

No Nav, it the same screen as the 4 button type you posted.
Bluetooth seems to work, does pair with the phone, but needs a mic.
Should be easy enough unless it needs preamp.

Its on the M14 connector so I can rig up an electret element and try it.
I assume the audio patches into the stereo...

The REV B+ (21) is being a pain, nothing at J36(3 black & 3 Blue)or at 5N14-5E2 at least the colours aren't there.
May have to go right to the relay box...

You still have 06-09 model?
Perhaps get a picture of the camera hole in the aluminum hatch?

Tyco is the maker, these are AMP connectors. They are TE Connectivity now, same disease as HP management.
Don't know who they are so may as well change the badge and confuse customers....
