2005 Prius has 185,000. Car is throwing code P0A80. Dealer says it needs a new hybrid battery. Car is currently in OHIO. Does anyone know of a good after market source for hybrid battery near by.
Aftermarket source will probably not be a very reliable source. If you're driving this car back to CA, the warranty on the aftermarket stuff will probably be very hard to claim when needed.
Just saw Green Bean Battery | Reconditioned Hybrid Battery Company $1549 for rebuilt battery, mobile install included and 5 year warranty and they handle Ohio and CA anyone have experience with them
A dealer price for NEW is likely close to $3000. You may as well call and ask. You could install it yourself for less. A NEW battery will far outlast a USED one.
green bean is mentioned here quite a bit, do some googling and look for reviews. especially warranty service.
The only aftermarket NEW batteries are cylindrical ones similar to the kit made by CEBA. Everything else is USED. I am starting to see USED batteries that I installed in the past coming back after less than 3 years. Not good. Check with your dealer or independent shop to see how much a NEW battery costs.
