I emailed ProClip a few weeks back and asked when the C would have a clip. Just got an email from them today saying it was ready to order. http://www.proclipusa.com/854784.aspx
Install instructions: http://www.proclipusa.net/media/documents/instructions/854784.pdf Looks like you need the mount (From original post) and a device holder to make it all work. Total comes to $69 for an iPhone holder and C mount.
I got the same email and ordered mine today. $64.98 to hold the Nokia N8. I have no worries since the product has a great reviews from Nokia users.
I found a bit of plastic in my garage, painted it black with some left-over paint and stuck on a a few pieces of 3m dual lock. Moumted the plastic to the dash in front of the vent with its base resting on the little ledge at the base of said vent. Then mounted my el cheapo nav to the plastic. Total cost ... less than a dollar. (Not counting the nuvi.)
just ordered one. just the mounting clip. and a cheapo garmin mount from amazon Amazon.com: ARKON APGN-VSM Vehicle Specific Mount Adapter Plate Connects 4 Hole AMPS VSM to Garmin Nuvi 17mm: GPS & Navigation
I don't see this as a good solution for two reasons. First, I held my Samsung Galaxy S III in the position shown just above the warning signal switch and it blocks the view of the right display with all the warning lights etc. Second, it blocks part of the vent. I live in southwest Florida and need the air conditioner most of the year. Often I have it blowing on me at a slow speed for the wind chill effect - especially because my partner gets cold easily. Having it blow on me means I can set the thermostat warmer so that she is also comfortable. I have looked for a good location and in my opinion to the left of the steering wheel is the best location. There are no displays to the left that would be blocked. It could be put at about the same vertical position as the three displays to the right of the steering wheel. That is only slightly lower than the view of the road ahead.
I'm bumping this up as I'm struggling trying to find the best solution. The vent mounted holders work - but block airflow during a Houston summer. Dash mounted suction devices don't seem to hold well with the texture of dash material. I tried a 3 USB mount that plugs into lighter slot, but it's rubberized, doesn't make a good electrical connection, and with the weight of my Samsung S7, just cannot hold the connection. I was wanting to avoid a windshield mount but I'm running out of ideas .
Thanks for suggestion ztanos I ended up getting an Iottie One touch, mounted on side window, extends slightly above drivers side A/C vent.
