I am thinking of buyiing the Prius Prime Advanced. When one does the build your car thing on the Toyota web site, there are different accessories add-ons you can add to it. Most do not interest me. But I have questions about a couple: 1. Body Side Moldings Do those really help protect the car, or are they just a decoration? If one buys that with the car, does the dealer install it? Worth the money? 2. Door Edge Guards Similar questions as to 1. Does it really help protect the car, etc.? 3.Paint Protection Film Expensive $400, but does it really protect the paint. Does the dealer install that, Is it visible at all, Does it get messed up? What about washing and waxing the car with that on? Also, it says something about availalbe for different parts of the car (each sold separately). Does that mean one might have to pay $800 or $1200 for the whole car? If anyone would recommend any of the other dealer accessories, please let me know, as well as comments on the ones I mentioned. Much appreciated. Thank you.
I had the door edge guards and body side molding put on by the dealer. side molding helps with dings to your car. The door edge guards help keep from chipping your paint when you open your door into something harder. I recommend them. I also recommend them from the dealer with their install. That way if they come off, they should stand behind them. The side molding looks cool. Mine are white and have black accents. Look good.
Consider whether you want the protection of the heavy-duty rubber floor mats or prefer the dressy look of the carpet mats. Or, possibly you want both so you can change from "winter wear" to "summer dress" as the season dictates.
We got the door edge guard as well. Our dealer has these installed on the doors as well as wheel wells. Our 2015had the paint protection which I wish we had gotten on here. It’s noticeable but not bad. We had it on hood, bumper and rear bumper. iPad ?
I had the clear bra installed half way back the hood, bumper, front fenders and mirrors. It was something like $750 dollars, kind of pricey but it looks good and matches the shine on my black car and it is referred to as self healing. It cleans nice and is removable if needed. They did a nice job installing it and it just looks like any other body seam except much smaller. Toyota shows it as a dealer option but I think they farm it out to these people and they use their own materials. The gave us a loaner for the day at no cost while it was installed. I would do it again. Midwest Autobahnd
Yup. HOV lane sticker. Will be removing all of them (there are actually 4 of them on the car) next year after it expires. No need for us since we always have 2+ people when driving in areas where the HOV lanes are. iPad ?
Why not just get the new ones in January and put them over this old one. It was only $22 and worth it for the next four years.
We do almost zero driving in the Bay Area right now and on the rare occasion that we do, it’s usually 3 of us in the car. If I was planning on reselling my Prime at some point within those 4 years I would consider renewing them. iPad ?
California is now extending the sticker for free for the next four years. no need to remove them, you never know when the will pop a carpool land on ramp in your area in the next four years.
I got the side moldings. I park in a parking lot for work in which people are not careful opening their doors. I had the dealer include them as part of the deal. I find them attractive. I am thinking about mud flaps but they are not available in the US. I would skip the paint protection.
