im gonna try to make my own relay for the gvif cable in my car which shuts off the video input to the nav screen so i can either send in a different AV signal thru the gvif or use Car-solutions.com relay switch box to add a second AV input in the L47 input i think its called... (the 20 pin) (which for me will be a 360 camera). But yea, anyone here who knows what relay could be used? and if there is any gvif wires i can by seperatly as extensions?
This is my plan, since the gvif got first priority (rear cam and parking assistant), when the relay cuts off the signal the 20 pin (where the rear camera for the cars without rear camera is connected) will in my theory open up for the 20 pin to be first priority. Which would allow a second AV input to be plugged in. [IMG]

Wow. Is it that complicated if you don't have parking assist? To my relatively untrained eye, that's a really overly-complicated way for Toyota to have set up video input for the Nav system.

I've been wanting to replace the off-center rear camera, put in front bumper cameras for parking and blind-spot cameras for highway travel since I got this car. Sounds like I'll be better off to just put in a separate monitor or two with a switch box rather than mess with the Nav display.

with the non-parking assistant version it goes thru the L47 input or whatever the heck its called... So for u (if u dont have the parking assist) its easy peasy to add a front camera or even birdseye view 360 camera. Get in contact with car-solutions.com and they`ll help u find the relay box u need to make the second AV input to ur unit. Its just a relay box basically, u get extensions to ur already existing cables in the back of the unit, then the relay switches between front and rear cam (OEM and/or aftermarket) via the "mode" button on the steering wheel and with "seek +" and "seek -" u change which camera u want to be shown on the screen. Did it on my moms 2016 auris, very easy to install both front camera in the toyota emblem and the box inside the car, soon changing the front cam out for a 360 camera. Im also gonna add front bumper cameras on it, so it can show the blind spots in the front, its quite a long car so it would be worth installing it. I think i can both give her a 360 cam and blind spot cameras on both sides at the front while keeping the original rear cam aswell. Since the rear camera is OEM, its 2 AV inputs open, one that im gonna use for 360 and another i will use for front blind spot cameras (simulair to BMW`s)

And toyota have made it that hard for us with parking assist sadly... It goes thru a completely different cable which is the gvif, it got first priority for the screen no matter what by some incredibly dumb reason only toyota could answer (they most likely got no valid answer at all). But yea.. for me it is that complicated, i have to find a second relay for the gvif so i can turn that shiz of so the front camera gets to be shown on the screen.

Stopped by Hybrid Pit today for routine maintenance. Oil change, tires rotated, everything checked over. Doing somewhere around 4000 miles a month right now... this interval came up a little quick this time
