Not even young drivers- Im 40 and nobody who rides in the car can believe how stupid the Entune is. It’s awkward, time-wasting, and buggy (crashes once/ week) if I cant replace the UI by next year I will trade the car for a Tesla.

I miss my volume knob in the Prius 2008, now I have to take my eyes off the road, reach over towards the passenger size, press “down volume” and wait. Actually I miss all of the interior, even the LCD screen was simple and compact.

I'm harping, but I think the primary reason they're going to touch screens is monetary: it takes money and effort to design decent, economic/tactile manual controls.

The sand-pounder: maybe I'm wrong, maybe it's actually cheaper.

If you have a Prime, the volume controls on the steering wheel are easier to use. (maybe they aren't on all trim levels?)

Maybe I'm the only one that likes this Entune touch display.
    >With the temperature and turning on the air, you just double touch the front defroster capacitive button. That'll set it to whatever you have it set at auto. Then up and down temperature buttons to adjust it.
    >Audio controls are on the left side of the steering wheel.
    >Navigation isn't intuitive in any car I've ever driven. This one is better than some but will always be worse than Google/Apple maps.
    >The horrible music when you turn on the car can be shutoff in the settings.

The screen on mine has only restarted once in the last year I've owned the car. It was after I left the car sitting for 5 days in the sun and the temperatures hit the 100's. Turned it on, started playing music, it restarted and played that opening video, then continued playing music. Weird.

I've been driving our Prime since the last day of April, and overall love the car. Except the UI. It is SO easy to use Siri to call someone. When I try to use the Entune interface, (push the button, say "Call....."x"" half of the time it guesses a completely different name. Forget destinations. I can ask Siri to find local public areas, like a subway station - forget the Toyota app - it assumes some place that doesn't even sound like what I asked for. My spouse and I agree. So I need to think of other "stores" in the neighborhood. It is the opposite of intuitive, and is all together quite distracting...even maddening. So far I have not had issues with the screen restarting...yet. Toyota should spend more time on Entune, or give it up and make Siri integrated with Carplay. I have to believe that there will be a lot of competition in the Northeast with the Subaru Crosstrek plug in coming, which will/should have the awesome Eyesight safety system, the great Carplay with Siri integration......all using the Prime hybrid technology.

I'm still trying to figure out what "UI" means.

    -old guy

Throw tomatos (tomatoes?) at me, but I think all that big screen technology can become way too distracting. Are we driving a car, or a computer?! People don't want a car anymore, they want a rolling office and a social media hub!

Drive attentive, drive SAFELY, slow down, and turn off all that crap. ;)

I have the Advanced and use the voice command regularly. I notice that it makes mistakes when the windows in the car are open, or the air conditioning fan is on high.
Otherwise, the system is generally accurate. As I posted numerous times before, the GPS is worthless. If you're trying to enter a new address, it takes so many steps, that it is pointless. If you don't have a Garmin, like I do, your only alternative is to use Google Maps. I assume that calling up an existing stored location probably works better, but I've never gotten that far. I'm with the folks who believe that less of a screen is a good idea. Let's go back to manual controls for air conditioning and radio. Where that big screen is fantastic is impressing new clients who think that it's a wonderful thing. Unfortunately, they haven't lived with this pain in the butt. I've never had any boot up problems, and I did turn off the music noise during boot-up. My dealer also turned off the stupid "Reverse Gear" warning beeper. I'm much happier with these settings. Oh, and the exterior Beeper added by my independent mechanic has been an absolute life saver in crowded, presbyterian-filled parking lots. My usually quiet electric Prime is no longer ignored if I so choose!

Why don't you just hold down the "make a phone call" button (the one at the far lower left side of your steering wheel controls) for a couple of seconds, and then hear the famous "Siri" beep, then talk to the "Siri Eyes Free" that's built into our Primes do to everything you ask (using Siri's voice assistant which is far superior to Toyota's)? I use Siri Eyes Free on my Prime a lot to call people, play virtually any song I want (through Apple Music - I say something like "Play Neko Case's latest album" or "Play the Harry Nilsson Essentials Playlist" and there it is...), ask it the weather, or ask it to read my unread texts back to me (yes, it's a thing, and it works!)

Even though we don't have CarPlay, Siri Eyes Free is sneaky good -- it's actually pretty awesome if you can think a bit less visually :)

(The youtube doesn't look like the Prime screen... but it works the same)

If you remember him, Norm Crosby was/is my hero, and I don't mean sandwich!
Actually this "word twisting" was avidly pursued by my late Papa; I guess it's in the "Jeans", har, har, He would feign being insulted by street signs "Caution"; "I wish they'd stop calling me "pig" (French = "cochon") he'd exclaim! I guess you become more like your parents as you get older!

If you ever road trip to Québec (a mere week-long drive from California ) - you should check out this really good local chain called Le Cochon Dingue (yes, "the crazy pig") - great place to grab a croque monsieur and some poutine - you would get a kick out of it...:

That bakery (C'est Si Bon), is in Newport Beach, Riverside/Pacific Coast Hwy. Many Francophones work there! Good croissants and baguettes.
