Just got a message on the PIP of my 2017 Prime with 47k Miles that said: Hybrid System Stopped Steering Power Low I was stopped in a parking garage with the ignition ON but the car in PARK and I was out of the vehicle for about 5 minutes got back in and I got this message and the READY light was out. Any ideas are appreciated!
If the Ready light was out, you were using the small 12 volt aux battery to power everything. It probably went low while the Hybrid system was stopped. "Steering power low" is related due to the fact that Prius power steering is electric, and with a low aux battery, the car is reporting there was not enough power to steer. Hopefully, you were able to put the car in Ready, and got full power back...
It was READY, but in Park when I left the car when I got back in the message popped up and the READY was off. I checked in on it after 5 hours of charging and it fired right up. Still would like to know exactly why I got the message though. There are specific messages for “low 12v battery” and “low traction battery” very curious why the steering was the system that was affected this time. Unless when I got back into the vehicle I bumped the steering wheel that that’s what prompted the message.
there may be a troublecode logged with specific service manual troubleshooting tree. could be a defective steering system ecu.
I got this one along with Engine overheat. Engine starts and makes some noise and stops, then this sign pops up. seeing these codes P00B111, P011511, P148F00 AND P319000
