Hello all! I just bought a used 2012 Prius C One and realized that at night, when I turn the headlights on, the gear shift lever that says P-R-N-D-B does not light up. I was wondering if the Prius C gear shift lever lights up? Thank you!
I'm not with my C for a few days to test but it seems that I remember that the display only lights up when the headlights are turned ON.
did you ever figure this out? I am having the same issue. What model bulb do you need? any videos of how to access the bulb to replace it?
Mine is starting to be wonky. If I press the shift lever left too hard, the light goes out... but then when I press it again, same hardness, it will flicker and come back on. I probably have a loose terminal.
There is nothing to "figure out". The top of the shifter stalk itself does NOT light up. Is not supposed to. Thus, there is nothing to "fix".
Unless of course, they're referring to the P/R/N/D/B as mentioned in the first post before the shifter knob light bulb question.
The strangest part is after about 9 months of not working last night it worked, but once again tonight it was not working again. That sounds like a loose wire/fuse more than a bulb to me.
I am an original owner of a Prius C² 2012. I had the same issue starting at 80,000 miles. I'd hit the console and it would light up (less and less likely after a bit) and it was dimmer I noticed. I figured I'd pay up and find out what was going on and make sure nothing truly serious was going on. Turns out the bulb was burning (burnt) out. It's apparently a very hard bulb to access and you need specific tools to do it. My dealer said if I did the diagnostic it would be absorbed into the labor cost. The diagnostic was cheaper (at first) than the labor if I just had them replace the bulb. They ended up charging me less. I had the diagnostic and labor done with the bulb part cost for $139.74. NOTHING was loose. I just needed a new bulb. Here is the final write up with the part number for the bulb. I hope this helps.
$140 to change a bulb? Wow! Us at the shop would probably do it for $50, maybe less to possibly have customer come back in the future 9098111014 is a T5 wedge bulb (a little smaller than 168/194 bulb). T5 wedge bulbs are super cheap on ebay, maybe $3 for a 10 pack... See attached image.
