My 2017 (mfg date of November '16) Prius uses a cartridge filter, not the new spin off type. Has Toyota changed to the newer spin-off type?
What the manufacture date? IIRC it was primes that were reported first to have gone back to regular metal oil filter? There was a conversion kit too? I'm ok with having just the paper filter changed, permanent housing. But it is a little trouble prone. For example, a lot of first time DIY'rs find the it overtorqued, likely due to a "pro" in a rush with an impact wrench.
The filter types changed between September and November 2017; I posted details and a link to the parts catalog in a previous thread.
