So, I am a week into my Prius Prime Advanced and I absolutely love this Prius! I am going to be starting another thread later after our trip to Oregon in mid July. Anyways, I got stuck behind a sand and gravel truck the other day and took two new battle scars to my pristine Prime. Post yours to help me not feel so bad (haha): iPhone ?
I scraped a rim while going around an invisible curb in a parking lot. I also have a small knick on the front bumper from some sand at Badlands National Park :/ I can't bring myself to take pics...
Ugh... Really sorry to hear that! Another thing to consider is that Gen-4 Prius windshields seem to be strangely prone to cracking — big long cracks. My stepdaughter’s (non-Prime) gen-4 got one (about a meter long!), and I’ve seen at least one report (probably more) of it here too. So, all the more reason we all need to stay waaaay behind gravel trucks, and traffic in general.
I always back off rock and gravel trucks. One got me a few years ago going the opposite way on the highway.
A puck the size of a Walmart shopping cart wheel went under the car and hit the edge of the wheel well. Chipped the paint and dented it. About 4 months old at the time. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
I am usually pretty aware of where they're at, but with how traffic was and me trying to get to the off ramp it set up a perfect storm. Of course it happened 5 days into the new car. I'm grabbing touch up paint for $15 from the dealer today.
the body shop quoted at least $700 to reshape and repaint the part due to the large section it's sitting on and the type of paint. So there it will stay. At least everything after the first major damage is like 'oh well'.
Sorry to see what happened to your brand new PRIME. Did you catch the culprit, or is it going to be your loss? I hope you have a good insurance coverage. I've been reading some ridiculous prices on body repairs on this car.
I would get it done. Make sure your insurance covers stuff like this, with a reasonably low deductable.
Out here they make “Raider” duct tape for the local NFL team . I’d bet you’d be able to find some somewhere .
It is. But an example of marketing in action. The next time you traverse to FL (or maybe available on line) the Tampa Bay Rays may have a similar deal (and they have a Clearwater blue like mantra).
