Touring Prius should have Navigation, but doesn't?

My new-to-me 2008 Touring has everything it's supposed to have, except Naviation. There is a "Nav" button on the steering wheel, but it doesn't activate anything. None of the screens I can access (on the MFD) show a Navigation ability. There is a sensor on the dash, Satellite radio works fine.

I'm the 3rd owner, the maintenance history was not available at the time of purchase. According to every thing I've read about the 2008 Touring Package, it had all the bells and whistles. Navigation isn't necessary, but I am curiouss what may have happened to it. Am I missing something basic? Thank you.

Is the Nav disc in the disk drive (under the drivers seat)?

If the MFD only has 4 buttons, a PO may have swapped it for a non-nav unit (MUCH cheaper on eBay) after the original failed?
I would get the VIN, and go to the Toyota Owners Vehicle Specification Vehicle Information Lookup page to see exactly what Prius model you have and which packages were installed, then go to this VERY HELPFUL PRIUS chat page: 2G Prius (2004-2009) Standard and Optional Equipment (Some Countries), to see what equipment you should have. (I've seen many used Prii advertised as touring model that were not.)

You're not missing anything on not having navigation. It's a pretty horrible system

Not necessarily. There are Touring models without nav. You may have gotten the HI package which will give you the higher resolution scree and Bluetooth handsfree (which came with the steering wheel that has the Map/Voice button).

In other words, models with Bluetooth but no nav had the same steering wheel as the ones with nav.

I have a 2006 with the "HI 5" package. I also have a NAV button on my starting wheel but no NAV. Like someone else posted, put your vin into the Toyota website and you can get all the service records as well as which package you have.

    Thank you for responding. There's
no drive that I can see, under the Driver's seat. There is a JBL audio amp under the passenger seat. The carpet under the Driver's seat looks undisturbed.

Thank you for the push in the right direction. I had tried using KarFax to look up my VIN, and it always came back with an error. Toyota set me straight. My version is a Hi-3 package, so everything is correct. I just wonder why they included a 'labled' button for something which was not included.

Thank you for that update. Do you know if there if were any blu-tooth updates. The blutooth in the car connects just fine (which was amazing to me for a 10 year old blutooth). just curious.

For existing cars, I’m unaware of any firmware updates.

That software got renamed to Wireshark many moons ago.;)

1.4. A brief history of Wireshark

    Wireshark · Go Deep.

Why does a car need to capture network packets? I thought only the Google mapping cars did that until they got caught.
