Hi Everyone, Just thought I'd post a few shots of the new ride. Love the increased range and features. It was $36,709.58 after tax/fees and includes extras I didn't necessarily need (lighted door sills, rear bumper applique) bundled with things I liked (front applique, four season expensive liner package, side molding, 10-spoke alloy rims). Probably not the best price, but it was below the Costco price with a reduced cost for the extras. There were very few Metallic Grays in the San Francisco Bay Area. So, here it is - a joy to drive and some quibbles. Quibbles: -Lack of buttons requires too many screen taps to do things -Awful voice recognition and can't say "Address... 123 Sample Street, etc" in one swoop like the PiP -Voice navigation and menus is very wordy -Parking assistant isn't very trustworthy (gonna post about that later) -Nice shiny black dash... easy dust buildup -Big plug hatch -Missing 5th seat and trunk space (known major quibble) -Bottom of steering wheel with white panel blocks hand grip for lazy freeway driving -Center console hinge flips cover sideways instead of lengthwise for easier passenger access -Missing 2nd glove box -Ineffective vent flow directors -That company logo that always appears for a couple seconds when accessing the audio controls -Turning off the auto-dimmer on the rearview to get rid of the light resets with each drive -Qi charger often blinks an error when charging my iPhone X -Seems like Safety Connect uses T-Mobile, which has terrible building penetration making app unusable too Mostly minor issues. Really like the car. I just drove 1,250 miles on one tank and that is a jaw dropper to many people I know. Refueled 9 gallons on empty, which means Toyota hid the extra 2 gallons from us for emergency use. Frankly, hiding one gallon is enough - if you've driven more than 50 miles after the display shows zero gas, you deserve to be stranded.
No it doesn't - just put your hand next to it. The side ones are very effective. The middle ones are less. I don't know what that means since I don't see one. When the light came on, I drove 17 more miles and then refueled 9.9 gallons. That means there was about 1.3 gallons remaining when it would have hit 0.
If the Qi charger blinks it means the phone is not laying on the right spot. Mine works fine with my iPhone X.
I do. Not as comfortable. This Powered by Gracenote, covering the audio controls for a couple seconds.
Yes. I place it centered with the phone touching the bottom (towards center console) frame. Over the course of the drive, sometimes I'd find it blinking it even if it hasn't moved around. I wonder if it is that sensitive in placement.
I think the iPhone X is sensitive in where it is placed. I have a Samsung Qi charger at home for it and I notice that if it isn't exactly centered on it it will blink and not charge. Suspect is is more a "attribute" of the iPhone than of the Prius Qi charger.
I've found that my "qi compatible" case gets in the way... I get about a 30% success with the case on, but the moment I take the case off it charges 100% of the time.
Yeah, same here. The question is, which is harder, taking off the case or plugging in a cable? Given that the cable is 10 times faster and charges 4 times faster, Qi is a non-starter.
I'm able to avoid quibbles #1, 4, 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15... ...because I drive a lowly Prime Plus, with (among other things) higher mounted middle vents, actual round volume and tuning knobs, standard rear-view mirror, and haptic climate controls
We gotsa train dem dumb injuneers on how to do things right!! Spaz designers are screwing with our lives! Look at Windows 10, or Apple iPhones; stoopid, stewpid, stupid!! Manual controls work, iQ pad too slow and not reliable, GPS completely unusable, rear autodimmer mirror= useless!! In spite of these STUPID flaws, would still buy the thing 'cause it really IS that much fun to drive (remember, I keep 'er in POWER EV mode 98% of the time). The Advanced with the safety, blind spot warnings is really excellent; don't forget the fog lights, heads up display, screaming JBL system (where the hell is my CD player, you stoopid injuneers!), auto wipers, cool cruise (though I almost never use it), auto high beams, stability/traction control, very good voice command (in a QUIET environment and not for the worthless GPS) and it is totally bloody reliable! Now at giveaway prices. How can you say no!!?? Oh, and I almost forgot, har, har, the mileage is RIDICULOUS!!! I buy gas every 3 months, last time, 8.6 gallons, after driving 4700 miles!! Socal driving encouraged me to use a lot of electric (currently 34 miles EV only range, no A/C), without range anxiety. Couldn't make the Eco Dashboard this month with my several long trips, but with this kind of flexibility, ya gotta love it! Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. AChoiredTaste.com
Hummm, I have middle of the pack Premium, I can count off only #4, #15. @breakfast , do you want to trade with mine?
You would also have to be comfortable with giving up your power seat, your Softex, your four door SKS (front left, front right, hatch, and charger door - the Plus has just the front left), your locking mechanism for the charger cable, your wireless phone charging, and *the horror* having to turn your headlights on by yourself (which you already have to do when it's raining in Massachusetts!). Still ready to trade?
My Plus model has a CD player! Sometimes old tech is better - see how my ASCII shruggie over here --> ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ has so much more emotion than this guy --> ...
Can't buy that. I bought aver 500 CDs with me on my last trip - all stuffed inside the USB port in the car.
I actually wanted a plus model. I HATE 11.6 LED and Softex. The only reason I ended up with Premium model was because the nearest Toyota dealer I first stopped had only Premium and Advanced in stock, and they matched and beat the price of quoted Plus model from a distant dealer. Yeah, I will miss 3 door SKS. I am careless about the forth charger door, but keyless opening of hatch is very convenient. Auto headlight and power seats are also nice, but my previous car was Gen3 Two, so Prime Plus would have been upgrade. I just miss KNOBS!!!!!
Oh, the HUMANITY!! I forgot to mention all those extra toys!! We are SO spoiled! The Entune Remote Charge Management is cool. I did use the charger door lock recently. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app. AChoiredTaste.com
