Last year I rented a 2004 Prius in San Diego; it didn't have GPS but it was a treat to rent a familiar car. I know there's the new EV company in AZ, CA, & NV (http://www.evrental.com/index.php ), but haven;t found other hybrid rentals since San Diego. The Hertz clerks in Portland tell me they no longer have hybrid cars. Would sure be great to drive a hybrid when on business travel, especially a Prius but other quiet, low emission hybrids would be great too. Any leads on other rental car companies or locations that have hybrids for rent? (the $100/day Prius rental from the dealership does not qualify)
Thanks, VA Beach! I will check into dealership rentals. Maybe one will send the courtesy van to the airport to pick me up! (not!) Here's what Hertz said: "At this time Hertz does offer Hybrid/ Environmentally-Friendly vehicles at a limited number of locations in California, mostly in the San Francisco area. Below, I have included the list of models types we offer: HERTZ HYBRIDS VT Code: E6 Class Name: Environmentally-Friendly SIPP: XDAR Passenger Capacity: 2-5 EPA MPG Range: 29-53 Cylinders: 3-6 Doors: 2-4 Cargo Space: 12.4 – 27 cubic feet Vehicle Length: 116 – 174.9 inches Model Examples: Escape Hybrid Ford Prius Toyota Th!nk Ford Neighbor Ford As more locations begin to open up their fleet to include the Hybrids, they'll be added to the city's "Choose a Vehicle and "Quote It" page of the website." I encouraged them to expand the hybrid fleet!

Funny thing though...I bought my first new car from Herb Chambers Honda. In 1991. Don't suppose that'd get me to be terribly preferred... <_< (and the '06 Pri is my SECOND new car...)
I often try to rent the Prius when I am on the road for business... failing that I'll try to get a Honda Civic Hybrid. I'm back out for 12 days starting Wednesday. Would anyone know of options for Minneapolis, St. Petersburg / Clearwater or Baltimore?c Out of the three Minneapolis is the most important.

I rented a civic hybrid there because it was cheaper than a Prius. Prius is about $45 a day unlimited miles. A civic hyrbid cost me $215 with tax for five days. it's not as frugal as the prius I rented a long time ago but close.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(voltwagn @ Aug 6 2006, 12:02 PM) </div> Their regular car prices can be a real steal sometimes. Mid week, I priced out a corolla and it was $11 a day but I upgraded to a Civic Hybrid instead for a little more.
