Did you have to change the MFD screen unit to a 2006 or later? (high res) ?

also take a look at this - this is what ia m thinking about

I have an 05 with a JDM rear camera, I have to put it in map setting and reverse, then the camera image will show up.

Was that a factory option, or something that you added?
Is the JDM camera RGB (and can plug directly to the MFD)? or does it plug into the nav computer and get converted there?
(*2006 and later rear cameras are NTSC and use standard composite video--composite video is usually on a yellow RCA plug connector)
    Just curious.

I bought the car with it installed, it was not an option for the American market. I have the paperwork showing the camera cost of $300.

I was told new wiring was needed and there were some rca cables involved that might get loose under the seats.

I'll get you more info later

I was just curious, thanks -- no need to bother. I had needed a new MFD for my 2004 a couple of years ago and found a 2004 w/nav in a pick-n-pull that was selling everything cheap. It looked like there was the possibility of a video input on the nav unit.

The camera is not the standard camera from 2006 to 2009. It's a JDM camera from 2005 JDM prius. Apparently Japan had the backup camera in 2005, just didn't come to America until 2006

It doesn't plug into anything, a wire has to go from the camera to the interface that's installed under the driver's seat, and then wired to the MFD screen 20180621_191433.jpeg 20180621_191721.jpeg 20180621_191734.jpeg
