So, I see there's an XM radio add-on available for the Prius. What I want to know is, will it pick up sat radio anywhere in the world, or more specifically the UK? Is there an international standard for satellite transmissions? I get the impression that the UK's DAB terrestrial radio system isn't universal. If it doesn't work, are there any alternatives besides having a radio plugged into the aux, IPOD style?

I live in a hilly area and bought a DAB about 2 years ago but I can only get a passable reception near a window in the back of my house, and then only from the big BBC transmitters. There's a web site showing large areas of the UK where DAB reception is poor or non-existent. After I'd bought my DAB I complained to the manufacturer and was offered a special type of aerial which would have to be professionally fitted. The cost was twice as much as I'd paid for the radio itself.
Hmm. Maybe satellite radio is the best idea for cars then. I just wonder how things interface to the MFD and car controls...? If it would be possible to hook something up that works nicely like the XM one?
