I have a 2011 Gen3 that I recently replaced the touch screen on, thanks to a nice tutorial supplied by “Duck Pants”. The installation went well and now I have a touch screen that works again. When the car was new, we installed a Samsung phone in the system and it worked fine. The touchscreen quit working several years ago and because of the cost quoted from Toyota to get it fixed, I covered the screen with a piece of cardboard to block the light emitted from the screen, as I was unable to turn the screen off. Now that’s it’s working again, I want to install another phone but cannot because the phone settings are unavailable in the screen menu. When I go to Phone Settings, these options should be available: Volume Manage Phone Phone book Bluetooth Details However, Manage Phone, Phone Book, and Bluetooth are not highlighted and cannot be used. Any ideas other than 12v battery disconnect and reconnect?
Since you replaced the screen, is it possible that a cable isn't fully/correctly seated or maybe the wrong screen?
Thanks for that suggestion lumpy95. I wondered the same thing but haven’t gone back in the unit to check. There was a coax cable that didn’t seem to want to reconnect but I thought it finally did; maybe it’s the culprit. The large ribbon cable that connects the screen unit to the base unit was a bit difficult to reconnect also; I need to check that as well. The screen seems to works great! Thanks for the tip!
