I'm in the tire shopping mood again (Tire rack) and I want to get some eco tires and my walmart tires that the dealer put on before selling me the car are probably hurting my mpg. Right now there is a good deal and rebate on the Truecontact by Continental. I'm looking to spend under $100 per tire for some eco tires. Does anyone have any input on the Truecontact tires? MPG, how long do they last, etc? Thanks, Higgins909
I've had TrueContacts on my car for a year and a half now. 15,000 miles, no discernible wear; I expect to get the full 90,000 miles out of them if not more. Much better wet and snow traction than the OEM Kumhos.
I was happy with the TrueContacts. Good MPG and good in rain and snow. I sold my 2006 with lots of miles left on the tires. I now have Costco's version of the Michelin Defender called the X-Tour T+ H. Happy with them as well with about 10K miles so far. Costco's prices are hard to beat.
Good news: got 60,000 miles of 50/50 city/hwy, compared with 40,000 of EOM tires. Bad news: traction not much better than stock ecopias and MPG noticeable worse. Noise worse too. You can buy them for ~$300 on special from discounttiredirect. They have that several times a year (holidays).
