I would just replace the thermostat, usually under $10.00 for a new one. Biggest problem is you introduce air into the cooling system again.

Old timers used to boil their old and new thermostats on the stove and with a thermometer and watch them open and close.

Would eds recommended method to jack up the front end remove the air out? I noticed that as I was putting coolant in during that process the radiator fans would turn on at 205 degrees and suck the coolant from the neck to the coolant reservior, does that mean no more air? I stopped right when I saw the coolant was reaching the full mark on the reservior.
