Does anyone have any info on the speaker system on 2017 prime advanced with JBL? Trying to install my powered sub but don't know where to tap into the front speaker leads. My old prius had the amp under the passenger seat but it looks like its under the driver's seat in the prime. Also looking to upgrade the front dash and door speakers and want to know what resistance they are. I looked in the gen 4 forum as well, thinking that it might be the same system but couldn't find it there either. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Used this chart to tap into the amp below the drivers seat. Let me know if your having issues and I’ll take a actual pic of which wires I tapped into.

The New Car Features books (available by subscription to techinfo.toyota.com) have tables listing the speaker characteristics. For fourth-generation Prius and Prius Prime models with the 10-speaker (JBL Premium) system:
    • The four speakers (in two 8 cm (3.1") assemblies) in the instrument panel have 4 Ω (3.4 to 5.2 Ω) impedance and are rated at 3 W input power.
    • The two speakers (in two 17 cm (6.7") assemblies) in the front doors have 6 Ω (4.6 to 7 Ω) impedance and are rated at 7 W input power.
    • The four speakers (in two 17 cm (6.7") assemblies) in the rear doors have 3.6 to 4.4 Ω impedance and are rated at 6 W input power.
Perhaps to explain the low input power ratings, Toyota writes:

    (1) "GreenEdge" speakers that efficiently convert electricity to sound with less sound corruption have been adopted. These speakers realize high sound pressure levels with low power consumption while still maintaining superb sound quality.

    (2) Due to the adoption of acoustic lenses, the directionality of the speaker output is improved, enhancing the area where the acoustics are effective.

GreenEdge is a trademark of Harman International, the Samsung subsidiary that owns the JBL brand.

For comparison, the 6-speaker system in the fourth-generation Prius and Prius Prime has 6.5 cm (2.6") and 16 cm (6.3") speaker assemblies, each with 4 Ω impedance, 20 W input power.

Wow. Great info above. Thank you!

Any info on what frequencies (crossover points) each speaker is playing? Particularly interested in the dash speakers. I really like how much of the sound is coming from those, and I want to make sure i get replacement speakers that can go at least as low in frequency as the factory setup. I would like to set my high pass filter even lower than the factory point if I can, so I get an even better soundstage hopefully. Thank you.

    You’re most welcome.
That’s a good question, but I don’t see the answer in the published service information, unfortunately.

Would you be so kind and take a picture of which wires you tapped into?

Thanks in advance. No pun intended.
