Can anyone help these codes please: PO420, P3000, C1259, C1310

I'm wondering if someone can help me with these codes. Big O looked at the car and they say I need a catalytic converter. Apparently it's common with a car that has 227k miles on it. Looks like one or two of the cells is bad on a refurbished battery. I'm going to replace the battery with another "recycled" with new cells cost $400. Does anyone have any recommendations for a cheaper catalytic converter that will ship to CA. I checked Ebay and apparently most don't. Is this a tough job to replace it? Big O says it'll take 15 minutes. Big O also says the part is $1800 from Toyota. Uh, no. I would appreciate any help. THANK YOU in advance.

 

Thanks for your response. I figured it out. I replaced the battery and it fixed the problem. It was a recycled batter with new cells. It seemed to do the trick. I don't want to get rid of my car! She's got 229,000 and runs well. My last Toyota I got 375k original miles on her...that's the plan with this one.

 

Absolutely! No, I did not buy the battery from a shop. I found a guy on CL who specializes in removing the old cells and replacing them with new ones. He has a 6 month warranty on his work. I bought the car from a couple who didn't want to buy a new battery so the car sat for months. I called the mobile battery guy he removed the battery and the car started immediately. I paid $500 for him to drive to the car and replace it which took a total of an hour. I was amazed that the car ran perfectly. I haven't had any problems for the last 2 years until now. I called my guy towed the car to his house and again he replaced the battery in an hour. This time as a repeat customer he charged me $400. The new battery cleared all of the codes that came up when the main battery failed. After driving the car for 100 or so miles I had to Smog my car for registration renewal. I guess there was no problem with the catalytic converter because it passed with flying colors. The call has high miles and purrs like a kitten. I have had zero problems with it.

BTW, my old FOB is falling apart. I bought a used on from a prius junk yard dealer. I did the chicken dance on it found on Youtube and it actually worked. The only problem is that it does not unlock or lock the car. I hope this helps. Thank you.
