Purchased a 2005 Prius two years ago. It was in limp mode and codes were ( P3013 Block 3) & P3018 (Block 8) weak. Replaced 4 cells, reset codes and drove 20k miles with no issues. Now the car gives the P0A80 (Replace hybrid battery) code. After resetting the code it soon reappears after a day or so. Question, how do I get the system to throw the battery cell codes again. I am in hopes of just replacing out of range cells instead of the whole unit.
Rather than waiting for a code to be thrown, do a little more investigation. Get TechStream and start monitoring the voltage of each block. See what's happening dynamically.
Just got the Techstream in the mail this week however there is something fishy with the passcode or I am doing something wrong. It won't let me in! Thanks for the direction.
Did it come with a text file that has 32 “1’s” followed by something like 52115 then about 8 more “1’s”? Did you copy the Techstream file and overwrite the program file? Did a video come with the Techstream cd? What version of Techstream? Keep us posted .
What does it mean to replace the mainmenu.exe ? Yes that was the passcode a bunch of 1's then50000170.... IT does not work. Version 12.20.024
The video that usually accompanies Techstream and the mini vci driver show how to replace the Techstream executable file. If not, google the version of Techstream you have and you’ll get an install video. Give that a try, then look into the COM ports to ensure the computer recognizes the device. Good luck and keep us posted .
Do you have another device that can play the video? The ones online are the same ones that come on the cd. Keep us posted .
Might be a good time to upgrade (for free) your media player: Official download of VLC media player, the best Open Source player - VideoLAN
That's a good one. Another is Media Player Classic: Home · MPC-HC (Purely a player, but very good at that.)
Finally got the TS installed. So simple I am ashamed to admit. It showed the failing battery cells in the 2001. Now ready to reinstall the rebuilt HV battery. Thanks for the encouragement on the Techstream. Just what I needed. Update soon.
Good to hear you finally got it. While a challenge, now you have the best tool possible for the next steps . Good luck and keep us posted .
