We are planning a 2,000 mile trip soon and I hope to be able to charge at the hotels we're staying at and wonder if anyone has ever tried this? Obviously, we don't want our cord stolen and sold on EBay but we would like to charge while we sleep and get good milage the next day. Theft is a problem here as well as permission from the reception desk/management, and the correct amp ext cord and probably won't even be able to open the hotel windows since most are fixed to throw an ext cord out. As I put this on the computer screen, I see how foolish it would be to hope to charge on the road. I don't even remember a hotel with charging posts in their lot... Well heck!
that is what we have found as well. most charging stations so far seem to be in shopping area's and etc. you could try plugshare or other charge site map to look up locations on your route.
I've done a little internet research and Marriott and Best Western have some hotels with chargers but even then the internet is wrong as some have noted in their posts (not PriusChat).
Kinda like Bisco said use charge hub or plugshare and look around were your hotel is. Usually, hotels are in convenient locations (Shopping malls ETC) If so maybe see if there is a limit. Once I went to a hotel plugged it into their wall outlet and kinda just sat in the car

Wyndom & Hilton have a number of properties that host charging stations but don't expect the electricity to be free. I wouldn't expect to find charging stations at a Motel 6 or Super 8 property. If you can park by your motel room's door run an extension cord out to the car.
I've traveled from Philly to Tampa a number of times in my Prime. Never even thought about charging at hotels. The 30 mile electric range I would get is equivalent in value to about a half gallon of gas = $1.50; if the charging was free which it usually isn't. I do better going for the free breakfasts at many hotels.
I was at a Best Western in Hollywood, and when I checked in, I asked if they had any provision for charging cars. They pointed me to a 120V outlet on the wall in the parking garage, and said I could use it (with my own EVSE), at no additional cost. Of course, this all depends on the management of the particular hotel/motel, not necessarily the chain. Particularly at chains like Best Western, properties are independently owned franchisees, so they make their own rules about things like car charging.
I've stayed at a number of airbnb's, and been able to charge. Of course, these are homes, not hotels - but worth considering.
On a trip, I can't see that it's worth the bother. Even driving for free for 30 miles (11 in my case) won't make any noticeable difference in the fuel bill or number of gas stops for an 800 mile day.
This is what I came to planning my next trip. I'll save the EV range for when I get to my destination for efficiency sake, but this is why I didn't' buy a Leaf or Bolt. I definitely would choose a hotel with a station over the one next door any day though.
Yeah just fugedaboutit, have an enjoyable, hassle-free trip, keep the charger cord safe, and it's a good break-in for the engine. You'll probably still get better mpg than a regular 4th gen due to the different programming and bigger battery.
