It's interesting to read this topic, because we've tried a couple of times to say "hello" to fellow Prius drivers with pretty much no luck... They looked back at us like we were insane. YES we are waving at you idiot. On the other hand, our first drive home from the dealer was met with a mighty BIG thumbs up from some guy driving a nissan Pick-Up... so there are some of those, on the other side of the fence, that get it!
I made some Priuschat 'business cards' over 2 years ago with the Priuschat.com name, a little word about the Prius, nice logo, and my e-mail address. I've dropped off over 20 of those on cars in parking lots leaving them in very noticable spots like driver's door/windows, etc. Not once that I can recall has even one of those people e-mailed me to acknowledge the card or mention thanks for pointing them to the site. The goofy enthusiasm isn't universal.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(nerfer @ Aug 2 2006, 09:07 AM) </div> That's me, 100%. I've just recently figured out the sweet spot for getting into glide mode, and I'm loving every minute of it. When I get into glide, I can look for other Prii on the road but as soon as I feel the front wheels kick in and see the blue arrows going to the battery it's back to the MFD.
[attachmentid=4332]Hey ...I'm old!! I just got my Prius...so far have only seen two others in my area...both parked. I would happily WAVE at passing Prius owners.... Maybe we oldsters are too busy watching the display arrows change colors and trying to get to "dead screen?" I love the tech stuff, but then, I love computers...it's a challenge....only had my car for couple of weeks and my mileage sucked...26.7...but then was doing some nasty things, like having the car running in IG-ON for more than an hour while I diddled with the phone till I got it right... Now, after reading John's manual...I am already making changes in my driving, even though I only do 5 - 10 minute runs locally...I'm up to 31.7 mpg. Guess I'll work through a few tanks before I complain to Toyota... So...if you live on Long Island, and see an old lady driving a Seaside Pearl 06, it's me watching the displays and playing with the arrow displays. Even got my tire pressures upped today to 40/38... Whoopeeee this is fun. Our fifth Toyota. Just sold 1991 Camry with 85,000 for $1800!! terri
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(molgrips @ Aug 2 2006, 09:40 AM) </div> It's a Moots Mootaineer 4" travel cross country bike. I typically race a Moots Smoothie -- less travel and lighter -- but this being a "mud race" and a very technical course I decided to go with the longer travel. You may already know but Moots (moots.com) is a fairly small titanium bike company in Steamboat Springs Colorado. I hate doing this to a high end bike and hate even more the time it takes to tear it down, clean, and reassemble...but I race in a point series and have to make 'em all.

Without folks such as yourself, others of us would not have benefited from your experience with technology. Your efforts are appreciated by the masses!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(molgrips @ Aug 2 2006, 06:40 AM) </div> My guess would be a Moots (because of his callname) Zirkel frame, but the top tube is a little different. I'd bet titanium, at the very least. And no, I don't wave to other Prius drivers in my area. There are far too many.
When we're in the 2005 Prius and wave at another one; nothing! When we're riding in my 2002 T-Bird and wave to another one, they almost always wave back. Go figure.
I've had my Prius now for over six weeks and have yet to make eye contact with another Prius driver or exchange waves. I am somewhat old too and probably self-absorbed or focused on my audio books or MFD, but always get excited to see another Prius on the road (I still don't see that many around here). I have to agree that most people I see are probably older ... I mean, probably not that much younger than me ... and they don't really seem that interested. On the other hand, I haven't tried to initiate a wave and I usually don't get a chance to pull up next to someone long enough so I can make eye contact.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Skwyre7 @ Aug 2 2006, 09:44 AM) </div> I am also in the Richmond area SS....people have waved and flashed their headlights, today at Costco I had 10 people around my car asking questions. Since I've only had it a little over a week I thought that was great. So next time I see you I'll wave I promise. I have an 06 mag gray...watch for me and I'll watch for you and we can do  the wave thing.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(clifford @ Aug 1 2006, 10:28 PM) </div> Maybe they're concentrating on their pulse and glide technique Out here in the Australian bush, we usually lift a finger when we see any other car passing on some of our quieter roads. I have only ever seen one other Prius in my area, and that was 6 months ago. I had heard rumours of it before then though. That might change. Lots of people have had a guided tour of my Prius, and most are suitably impressed.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(ladyinblack @ Aug 2 2006, 09:47 PM) </div> Sounds great! I'll be on the lookout. I'll be the '05 Seaside with sharkfin antenna waving enthusiastically.
