Gen3 HV batteries for Gen2?

Thank goodness they aren't from 2001 or something, 'cause I was getting ready to get really UPSET lol!!!!

How do you check the dates btw?

I am buying gen 3 cells as I find them with low mileage and going to put them into my gen 2 pack when I get all 28....well I was thinking about putting only one OR staggering them all with the weak old ones til next month on the 1st when I get my disability check, but Idk what will happen if I do that for just a couple weeks.

The guy has another 15 modules he says from a 2014 Prius with 4k, some other ones from a Prius with 48k and some with unknown mileage due to having no keys to check.

It appears to me from what I saw on his listing and by what he told me that each group of modules have a specific stock number so they do not get mixed up it, but the number series is messed up above on the 11 I already purchased, so I don't know anymore.

 

How do I save after checking receive email notifications?

 

On the 2015 with 9k, they were listed for $65, but for all 11 I offered $45, then $50, then on my last offer he countered with $55, so I took it.

The 15 modules from the 2014 with 4k are listed for $55 so I will see what happens next month if they are still available.

EDIT: So, I guess it would cost around $1370, then I was going to sell my older 27 cells back on eBay for maybe $30 or $35 plus $9.95 shipping, making back about $810 which would be a total of around $560 for replacing all cells with gen 3 ones.

I would still need 2 more modules if all the 15 are still available on the first when I get my check.

It's an adventure to say the least...I just didn't know what else to do because I have no one to help me and no way to get around.

There was a couple gen 3 packs 20 - 38 miles from me with 22k on a 2013 for $905 and one for $721, but just no way to get over there.

 

Well, I am hoping for the best...all I can do now.

I opened my pack last year in May and replaced one module which lasted 1 year and 3 months (it failed a week ago) and only failed because a module next to it was fairly badly heat damaged and I only had only ordered one module and had no more time to spare, so I left it in.

 

Where do you know that the 4th letter in serial is a year code?

Is there someplace online to look it up or confirm this?

Anyone know if a 2015 gen 3 battery case is compatible/same as other older gen 3 cases?

I have a second generation Prius with hybrid battery pack error/replacement codes. I just got the codes cleared temporarily because I changed the spark plugs (took about 40 minutes) and then it charged the battery better and the codes went away. However, the red triangle came on again after 2 days and I received the same codes. I also have experienced quick battery drain when accelerating. Anyway, tomorrow a mobile Prius repair company is coming to put a 3rd generation hybrid battery pack into my 2nd generation Prius. He said it will provide more battery power than a rebuilt 2nd generation. I will report in after I have time to experiment with its charging and how the car runs. Despite the battery needing replacing it's pretty much on its last leg because it can still charge up to a green level when I was exiting the freeway. I presume it wouldn't do that for much longer because just driving around a little bit it would not charge up today and the engine was running hard to try to propel the car and charge the battery.

Also, after those spark plug changes, the combustion engine (generator) sure runs better! I love doing maintenance on cars!

 

I was wondering if this would work on a Camry Hybrid. I'd like to swap 7th gen modules into a 6th gen pack. I can get low mile wrecking yard pack from 2015 Camry for about $1300. Information on this procedure is scant. This is the only post about it I've found so far.

 

Adding to this:

i have a 2005 Prius to that has some intermittent codes that come and go (mainly the transmission code for the parking actuator). Turned into a battery code where the cells kept failing one pack after another.

got a full gen3 pack from a mechanic I use and did the full cell swap, wouldn’t start, drove me crazy until I realized I wasn’t pushing the a safety plug all the way down….

car fired right up after pushing the last notch down.

Will drive for a week and report back.
