The rear is awful. Looks like a gen1 rear

The rear looks like that of a gen1. So awful.

 

How are they even similar? Even the Prius logo is different

 

You're just talking of logo. Take a look at the left rear where you've the "Toyota hybrid". Also, if you look at the rear of the car from the side view, it sure to me looks like a gen1.

 

Yeah, I'm not seeing the gen1 comparison either. The tail light cluster on this refresh is mounted high; it doesn't extend down past the height of the lower rear window. The gen1 lights almost reach the top shelf of the bumper. The gen1 spoiler is also of the type to have a gap between it and the deck lid.

Then there is the fact that the height of the rear's vertical surface isn't high enough on the gen1 to even require a split rear window arrangement.

Might as well say the new Prius' rear looks like an Echo.

No similarity whatsoever. It's like comparing a Model T to a Model A.


Lots and lots of similarities - the glass is flat, the headlights are round, as were the wheels.

 

The Echo was the first to have that kicked in the butt look?

 

We had the hatch here, and we went to FIJI for a short holiday with a hire car - which was the 4 door Echo sedan - first I'd seen. I didn't get used to it. It came here soon after and was relatively popular. There were a few other hatches with boots (trunks) added which looked odd. Very practical though.

With the Prius, I was hoping for an emergency mid-course styling correction, but it would appear that I'm now officially old enough to be at odds with most of the people who decide on what new and interesting shapes cars get bent into these days.........and more is the pity.

I see it as GOD's unique sense of humor at work, since I used to lament the fact that all 5-pax, front-wheel-drive cars were soulless egg-shaped transportation appliances whose badges could be interswapped in a parking lot without anyone detecting the change!

Cars are screaming at you that even though they're soulless egg-shaped transportation appliances, they're NOT going to be ignored or confused with the other soulless egg-shaped transportation appliances, no matter how many creases or odd shaped lights you have to use on them!
Quite frankly, I see it as the automotive equivalent of tramp stamps, ear gauging, and some of the more interesting hair styles out there....

Idk I don’t mind the current gen 4 design or the 2019 refresh. Both look okay. I like that purple color. That would be cool. I wish the Prius would get a 360 camera like the Camry. And CarPlay/android auto support. Only things I’d change.

 

Not sure - yes, the purple might attract some, I'll stick with white or pale silver.

But I'd like good seats. Maybe as good as VOLVO's '70s seats. And fix the Hill-Holder so it works in reverse on steep down-hills. And get rid of the stupid foot-hand-brake.

 

its "quite easy" to install 360 cam urself, 200 dollars is what they cost, real advanced ones like in the 7 series u can get for 800 dollars (u know the one that creates a 3d image and u can see around the car as a video game) im gonna add a normal 360 on my gen3 as soon as i figure out a way to add a second video soruce without losing my parking assistant. if u have a open USB i think u can just buy a carplay dongle for 60 dollars.
