Looking for advice, I have a 2012 Prius Four with 110k miles, a few years ago I hit a curb pretty hard and since that day my car would shake a little while on the freeway when I would hit about 75mph, this has started to get worse over the years, I had a mechanic confirm it was indeed the R&P that was causing the shaking It is now to the point that the steering wheel vibrates pretty much all the times, only times it doesnt vibrate is when I am in a curve but on the straightaway it shakes, shakes the worst when braking, rattles the car really bad while braking. So here is what I am looking for, I have not had any luck finding any info on the rack and pinion replacement, whether this is something I could replace myself. Would appreciate any help
The steering wheel has some play, when turned from left to right when stopped you can feel and hear the play which is the same sound i hear whole driving so definitely the rack and pinion thats bad
Symptoms: 1. Vibrating steering wheel, i particular at higher speeds, around 75 mph. 2. Vibration goes away in curves. 3. Vibration gets worse when braking. History: started after you hit a curb. Have the front and rear wheels been swapped since the curb hit? Edit: must have, years have past.
