Southbound I-405 in Orange County stopped for traffic, Escalade limo rear ends at high speed and pushes me under another Escalade limo. Total of 6 cars involved no injuries! 2016 Prius Four Touring 57,800 miles and a full tank of fuel. Now in the market for a Prius Prime so I can get in the carpool lane.

You were the filling in an Escalade sandwich!

I hope you're alright. Don't be bashful about seeing your doctor if any issues pop up.

Will you try to get a duplicate Prius or something different?

    Good luck.

Sorry to hear - enjoy your new PRIME!!

As mentioned - good idea to get a medical checkup ASAP, if for no other reason than to have it recorded, even if he doesn't find anything immediately - some issues may not be evident on day one.

Were the two Escalades traveling together?

Wow. Glad to hear you are OK. Is there something about pearl white being more prone to an accident... I must wonder.

Ouch, hope you are really ok. Pain and suffering doesn't really set in till one or two days after the impact. Take ibuprofen, which is better than acetaminophen, for controlling inflammation.

My wife was in a similar accident 20 yrs ago, except it was a Ford minivan that rear ended her Acura Integra into a Nissan pickup. The pickup's rear wheels were over her front doors after the impact.

To this day, she still has days where there is neck pain now and then.

Glad you "survived!" ... As others have indicated, it's a very good idea to still be checked out by a medical professional as it can take several days for all repercussions to come to the surface. Must have been scary! Good luck with your Prime search.

Glad you're ok, that first photo looks like a scene out of Fast and Furious, sandwiched between two baddies.

Your pictures betray no hint of any passenger cabin integrity problems. Cars are getting so much stronger and safer these days.

This is the reason I want to get my spouse out of her daily driver, a 1989 Integra that I bought new for her before we were married, to replace the unreliable thing she had before. Even at 29 years old, it is still reliable enough for her needs, and she still loves it, but it can't possibly provide crash protection even remotely resembling what this Prius just did.

Sorry to hear of your loss, I too have a 2016 Blizzard Pearl. Please take everyone's advice and get checked out just in case. You really would want those two idiots to pay your medical bills if anything comes up.

Enjoy your new Prime, and maybe choose a nice Hypersonic Red or Blue Magnetism one, it seems that "the safety color*" isn't so safe in the US!

*A lot of Japanese people buy white cars because white is considered "the safety color", hence prone to fewer accidents. Apparently, it seems to be more of an accident magnet for our 2016 Blizzard Pearl members...

First off I am glad you are okay! Get checked out as everybody has mentioned before. Although I did not after my accident. The car performs very well! I also picked up a prius prime after my pearl bit the dust! I chose HYPERSONIC RED. Haha I wanted to ensure that people will avoid me and I hear that people tend to avoid RED as it is also the color of blood.

Anywho! I hope your insurance will fight for you to get a higher appraisal value for your 2016 blizzard. There were no 2016 touring four prius for sale around my area at the time I claimed insurance. (This was only a few weeks ago) But I was able to negotiate 24,600 before taxes for my 2016 blizzard pearl with ~24,600 miles. I still end up losing about 9,000 due to depreciation and losing a car.

That car looks totaled to me. Totaling a car sucks but its good that you are OKAY! Keep us informed!!!

I think they were both from the same company returning to San Diego from LAX.

I had all the bells and whistles, technology package etc. I was very happy that we got regularly 55-58 mpg without even trying. We had her for exactly two years and logged 57,000 miles.

As far as injury, had full x-rays and doctor visit. Got lots of pain med and doing very well, quite surprised that no airbags went off. I visited the wreck today and the cabin cage was completely intact. I am impressed with the safety features of this vehicle.

Interesting - what sort of speed were you doing at the time of impact. The side/curtain airbags shouldn't go off in a front/rear crash, but I thought the front ones might have.
