I've used both the ChargePoint card and the smart phone app. The card works much more dependably.

Hi Travis! Can you provide a bit more info please? When you call our number you're unable to connect with a member of our driver support team?

That’s a curious question, now that you mention it. I honestly can’t remember how that worked for me back in May when we got our P.Prime. All that I can remember for sure is:
    * I am using the same physical RFID card as came with the car,
    * I am using a different, separate ChargePoint account from that which came with the car, and
    * I ultimately ended up letting the ChargePoint credit that came with car expire (what I jokingly describe as a “all-you-can-charge buffet” around Austin for $50 per year — quasi-free).

The fact that I’m using a separate account is probably ultimately because Austin Energy out here has a special deal going with ChargePoint.

Anyway, I just wanted to reply that you’re probably best posing your question to ChargePoint, and that the ChargePoint app provides an easy means of asking such questions.

Their app is also very useful for many other reasons, such as to check charger availability remotely, or to “camp on” a charger site — notify you when a charger at a location comes available (I use that a lot at work).

The app can allegedly also be used to substitute for the RFID card, although I personally haven’t managed to get that feature to work.

I just added the complimentary credit to my existing ChargePoint account, using my VIN as the promotion ID. And then when I used a non-free chargepoint station with my existing RFID card, it took the charging fee out of that credit. And when the credit expired, my account just went back to my original balance; that is, the unused part of the $100 credit was removed. The way ChargePoint works is that the RFID card and a Chargepoint account are two different things. One can have many RFID cards associated with the same account, or one can have multiple RFID cards associated with different accounts. I never used the RFID card that came with the car, although I did use part of the credit by adding it to my existing account. The default way that they expected a new customer to use the RFID card that they provided is for the user to up a new account and associate the RFID card they provided with that account, but they also set it up to work that the credit could be added to an existing account by adding a "promotion".

Same thing here. Got multiple emails from Toyota and ChargePoint. Also got postcard to sign up for the Free ChargePoint $100 from Toyota. Talked to support multiple times and even send then a pic of the post card.

No $100 ChargePoint Credit on 2018 Prius Prime.

Kinda made me mad that I could not get the credit but that is how things go.

Bought a 2017 Prius Prime Advanced, there was a ChargePoint card in the paperwork. I’ve created an account and activated the RFID card. I only have BLINK charging stations near my home. I’ve read they are all part of the same “network” but each time I’ve tried to use a BLINK station with the RFID it does not work.

Anyone have any ideas on what I may be doing wrong? Or am I mistaken about BLINK ?

Blink is not part of the same network.

Happy to help clarify! Currently, we do show Blink stations on our maps as a convenience for drivers, however, you will need a separate account when you use Blink. :)

Just created a complimentary account with my vin.

I’m curious though. Why just the Vin? I can get VIN off new prime (unsold) from dealership for sale website and register to get this free $100 (with fake charge point account). Kind of scary....

Yep. This is completely useless in tx. I couldn’t find a charging station convenient enough to use other than driving across town to plug on &sit there and wait. Lol

Just got my car over the weekend and it didn't come with the kit. Should I contact Toyota or the dealer?

For the chargepoint credit you don’t even need to get anything from the vehicle or Toyota. Create an account (if you don’t already have one) and in the promo code area put in your vin number. Voila, a $100 credit shows up in your account.

I for one don’t see using it much for our prime only (don’t see that many out of home charges happening in the timeframe), but will definitely take advantage and use it on my smart electric drive too.

A Chargepoint account can have one or more RFID cards assigned to it. The $100 bonus is on your account, with the VIN being the promo code. Some cars came with a Chargpoint RFID chip, but you don't need to use it if you already have one.

But my understanding is that this promo does NOT apply to 2018 models.
