Hi all, new to the Prius world, looking for some advice on replacing the MFD that came with my car. I know my MFD is a 86110-47080 and the touchscreen stopped responding. My Prius is a 2004 base model from Canada. I've seen the posts to reflow the 3 pins that are common to break apart but found an 86110-47081 MFD online for cheap so I purchased it. When I got it in the mail, it turns out that it was mislabeled and is actually an 86110-47230. I was about to return it, but before I do I just wanted to know if anyone here knows if it'll work properly as a replacement so I don't have to take apart my dash again to try it.

    Thanks for your help!

Found out that they are two different harnesses and won't work.

Yes, the harnesses are different, but the signals are the same--it is possible to use a newer Gen 2 MFD in an older Gen 2, if you move the wires in the connector. I got my 2004 used from Miami. The sun and heat had caused the screen coating to bubble and I replaced my base MFD with one from a 2004 with navigation, and that was plug and play, I just had extra (useless) buttons. Then I started to think about adding a rear-view camera. So I got a 2006 (and later a 2008) with the cut plugs from a wrecker, to experiment. I got my hands on the wiring diagrams a created a cross-reference for the wires and just moved the wires in my existing harness. They all work. (I suspect the 2004 will work in the later Gen 2s also.) See: Will 86110-47230 work instead of 86110-47081 in 2005 Base Model? | PriusChat
