I recently completed my install of the Side Mirror turn signal on my 2016 Three with ATP that was mentioned in two different threads
What Did You Do To Gen4 Prius Today
    Side mirror turn signal lights

and wanted to consolidate my install into one place. Thank you again to sfv41901, randomwalk101, and Elektroingenieur for their assistance with checking my work and providing advice in the other threads

Before I go further, this is fairly involved install and these instructions should apply to all Gen 4 Priuses, but I cannot guarantee it will be same, please check with a multimeter and check your work. This is just a guide! If you are in SoCal consider hitting up sfv41901 because it seems he can assist with this install! The instructions that came with lights are attached

    Parts Needed
Side Signals (I purchased from ebay, but you can also purchase from Hybrid Pit as well.)
    10mm ratchet
    screwdriver
    electrical tape
clothes hanger or something to fish cables through
    Plastic Pry Bars
T-taps (red) (or solder or some other method to tap into existing cables)
    fuse tappers
Multimeter to check voltage and continuity

It took me about 8 hours added up to do this, but it was also my first time, so someone experienced probably can knock it down to 2-4 hours.

Remove Door interior trim Panels, I followed this great youtube video

Three screws and they are off, if you have some vinyl, you can wrap your door trim pieces as well for a nice look, I wrapped mine in black carbon fiber

Mirror assembly removal is straightforward once door panels are off, three metal screws and one plastic plug closest to door edge. The existing cables go to connector that easy to disconnect.
    IMG_3542.jpg
Once you have the mirror housing, I recommend taking the mirror off (watch the heater connection and orientation!) and getting the housing off is a little difficult. pop off the bottom trim piece and pop the new one in
    IMG_3547.jpg
Follow the existing wiring of the mirror adjuster and fish cables accordingly through. Reattach Mirror to door

new wiring bundles will have to go through rubber boot to body connector, I believe they are the same length for both sides and have one female/male connector on one end and pins on the other.
    shorterconnector.jpg

Now for the fun part. You'll have to undo two bolts holding the rubber boot to the door. Then tackle the door to body connector, I recommend a thin flat head screw driver
    Side connector.jpg

    Undo the connector like so
    unlock tab.jpg

Remove interior connectors with thin tools and roll back rubber flat shovel looking side on itself and it will reveal another plastic piece, start threading cables through, you can start with smallest black/white cable and then use that fish the other through.

    fish cable through.jpg

Insert into connectors, first unlock the locker bar otherwise new cables won't go in...don't ask how long it took for me to find this out...
    IMG_3563 (1).jpg
    connector pins.jpg

Sort the remaining cables by length, there should be two bundles left of each wire type, the longer will be for the passenger side. Repeat for other side and route cables into car, now would be good time to check for continuity with multimeter!

Route cables into car, from passenger side I went from door to glovebox to area below the shifter
passenger glovebox to driver side.jpg Passenger side to Drivers cabling.jpg
    Connection to ECU
You probably should disconnect battery at this point for safety reasons
Remove all panels near left foot area.
you should remove the two panels housing the hood release/refuel button and headlight dimming and HUD (if ATP) there is one screw holding it down, this will really open up area to work with main ECU

This the diagram of how the turn signal works and how it translates from the manual to actual
    2018-04-05 17_19_34-Left Mirror - OneNote.jpg

Make your connections for turn signal here with taps mine looked like this
    IMG_3612.jpg
    Tap for your ACC/constant/negative

Puddle lights are more interesting, you'll have get the a pillar cover off, the clip is a little hard to get off and you can purchase replacements if you damage it, but I got mine off with the method below
    apillar.jpg

You'll then see this, fish the black white cables to here and tap
    Apillar puddle.jpg IMG_3638.jpg

I stashed the button controls here and chose to have DRL on and sequential on, but you can choose whatever you want!

So you hook the puddle light to dorm wire so if you turn on the dorm light the puddle light is on?

Okay. Finished installing the lighted signal mirrors. Let say my next car, I’ll make sure I buy the model that has the signal so I won’t have to go through this again.
Now just need to figure out the right wire to tap in for the puddle light. I grounded the puddle light meg (black wire) down at the bottom of the chassis instead of running it up the A pillar. I found that red & purple wire bobthejedi was talking about but I hooked up a multimeter to that red wire and it’s always hot. Will this cause my puddle to be on always???

I got it. The purple wire is not ground. It’s 0-12v. When it’s 12v it cancels out the other constant 12v which turns off the light.

Doggonit!!! Figured out the puddle light and hooked it up. Worked great and was about to wrap up and looked on the passenger side and the puddle AND the DRL light is lit (car is off, unlocked). Arghh!!! I regrounded the two black puddle light wires and unhooked the white puddle light white wires and everything is back to normal.
Something is wrong somewhere but I’m just too damn tired. Just Going to live without the puddle light.

That's weird, but congrats on the rest of the install. The black puddle lights should go to the purple negative wire. I actually like having the puddle lights now that they are hooked up right, I originally was going to give up as well, but I think its worth it.

Yup. That’s what I did. White to constant and black to purple (which is actually 0-12v). When light is off, that purple light is 12v. Really weird.

That appears to be the first gen one, I got this one that has more light segments

However, if you're interested in folding mirror option, I believe @sfv41901 with Hybrid Pit has the avest kit and some folding mirror options for sale, you might as well do that if you're opening up the doors. I did mine before he had that option otherwise I would bought from him!

love those lights lol, just installed them on my 3rd gen, gotta say the wire feeding is the worst part lol.
I tapped the foot lights for the puddle lights, only negative with that is that when i walk up to the car it doesnt turn on the puddle lights... i have to click the unlock button for them to turn on, but what i do like with them is that they turn off when i put the car in gear, but as soon as i put it in park they turn on and stay on until i lock the car.

One little thing i will change with mine is redirecting the DRL wire so it isnt DRl, but so it turns on when the interior lights come, just so the whole width of the car illuminates when i walk up to it.
