Hey all - was just curious.. are any of you out there lucky enough to own a Spectra Blue Prius? I'm currently considering buying a Prius and found that there may be a Spectra Blu @ a dealership somewhat near my hometown, so I wanted to get more perspective on the color & see if I should make the 60 mile trip to go check it out and/or buy it. Weird because the first dealership i went to told me that the color was discontinued (but didn't they just start making it this year? lol) Is it like dark navy blue or more of a electric blue? From the cover of the Prius brochure, it looks navy, but it i think the colors are actually darker than the actual car in the brochure. I really like blue and have heard that it is a hard-to-find color, so it seems like it would be great to have. also, it would probably be a good idea to call the dealership before I head out, right? just to see if it really is available? Pics would be appreciated. Thanks!!
Hey Camille, I posted an identical message about 2 weeks ago...didn't end up with the blue, so can't help you. It was the same here in CT, couldn't find one anywhere, and was wondering if I should order one without actually seeing the color. People will be along shortly with pictures...it IS beautiful. I ended up with the mag gray, picked it up on saturday and love it! Good luck in your search Andie
Just bought an electric blue 2008 last month. I'd say it's a dark blue - not Navy but dark. We liked it better than the lighter blue we saw. I'd say it's close to the color of the dark blue links seen on the chat pages.
Hi Camille087. I have a blue Prius, just got it last week. If you look for the title "Greetings all from UK" in the Newbies section, I have posted a picture of mine in there. Hope you get one because it sure is worth the wait. Good luck !
But are you sure "lagoon blue" in the UK is exactly the same as "spectra blue mica" in the U.S.? My spectra blue prius is on order, and every picture of it I see looks a little bit different. The one in the UK thread is absolutely perfect, so I do hope it's the same color with a name change. (The spectra blue model on the Prius website is actually a duller shade, which has me worried.)
It is really hard to take a picture as the blue color changes with the light. Toyota has used this color for a number of years, I think it was first used on the Celica and has been used on both Lexus and Scion. I love our Spectra Blue Mica, we bought it last September and I think it was the first one sold in Hawaii ... I know it was the first one sold by the Honolulu dealer because all the salespeople came out to look at it and asked what color it was when they brought it to me.
I have a 2008 Package #6 Touring Model in Spectra Blue. I'm the only one in Rochester with one according to the Dealer Logs at our local Dealership. They are hard to get in the Touring Package. I bought mine outside the state and brought it back in.
Bought a Spectra Blue this weekend in VT, many on the lot...but going fast! Dealer sold 14 over the weekend...at least 3 the fancy blue!
I am a newbie too and am picking up my Spectra Blue Prius this afternoon. I will take some pics and post them so you can see the color. Hopefully we will have sunshine here and the color will look great. It looked really good at the lot and am looking forward to a blue car.
Toyota has the same colour codes for paint in all markets world-wide. The Blue in question is called Galaxy Blue here in Australia, but still is the same paint code....8M6. Just ask the dealer if it is that paint code. Here's a photo, it's a beautiful colour and will probably be our next one.
Sleeka, what is the "Wildfire" model that you noted? And the "Spider's Web" ? I suppose these are Australian specifics ...
Jiipa is correct. The first time I saw one, it was outside on the lot, in the sun but at a distance, and it was dirty. It looked so dark I wasn't sure if it was blue or black at first. I didn't buy that one (wrong package), but when I picked up the one I did buy (months later), I remember being surprised at how dark it looked (this time, it was inside the building). But when you get up close, it is really a brilliant (if a bit dark) blue. Out in the sun, it looks more impressive. At night, under the street light, it looks amazing! So, all the pictures you've seen are correct. The color in the brochure and in the pictures on PC are possible.
Sleeka, that's a beautiful photo and a beautiful car. I'm so psyched now--that's my absolute favorite color--the color of earth as seen from space. I guess I'll be washing my new Prius a lot to keep it that shiny and blue.
Spectra, Wildfire is the Australian equivalent for your Barcelona Red....again, same colour, just different name in different markets. The Spider's web is a decal we have available through our Club which goes partially on the fuel cap to make the point that it very rarely needs to be opened on a Prius. We have them in different shades to suit different paint colours. See the photo of my car below.
Thanks for so much for the responses and the pics, guys!! Such a pretty color. I'd say it's like sapphire blue..really love it! I'm sure I'll be getting a Prius soon, and I'm definitely holding out for this color! Thanks again
I get compliments about my Spectra blue on a daily basis. I just tinted the windows and it looks great
Hello Fellow prius lovers. I will be selling my 2008 Spectra Blue Mica Prius. Im told that this color is a rare animal, especially in the touring edition, and especially with the leather interior, leather wrap steering wheel. Its the high end package 6. Ive had 4 prius, all 2008, but the touring edition is different, it is much more stable on the highway with those front and rear stabilizer bars, and looks so cool with the 16 inch tires. It has 168,000 miles ans I recently had the ABS brake accumulator/actuator repaired. Notorious for going bad on the Gen ll. Anyone interested? Thanks for reading. Mike
@mjp2d1 Hey Mike, don't know if you noticed but you just posted on a ten-year-old thread. Hope you don't mind me pointing it out.
