How are the dealers handling the 2018s? Are they receiving the same incentives as 2017s (this is assuming the 18s are even out yet?)?

I emailed one dealer and am waiting on a reply but they said "Hurry up, my 17s are almost gone and they have the good incentives".

As far as I know the Toyota incentive of $4500 cash back is specific to 2017 models and not applicable to 2018 models. Dealers near us do not even have 2018 models in stock at this point.

Picked up a Prime Premium 2017 for about 27,800 out the door two weeks ago in SoCal! MSRP was 29,950 I believe :)

Was the lowest I can find here in Socal.

I got an excellent quote from CarMax in Laurel. The real difference in the price was that there is a $3,000 rebate in the 2017 models. It would cost me $277 to fly to BWI and then the drive back will be about 6.5 hours. I got a price a little over $29,100 for a 2017 model Prius Prime Advanced. I would have to pay KY tax and registration when I registered it. Wolfe, How did you arrange for payment? The closest price I got locally was $780 lower than invoice on a 2018 similar model. Do you all think it’s worth all the travel ? Looks like the difference is $4,838 but for a 2017 instead of on 2018.

Can anyone confirm if 2017 model years are still eligible for tax credits, if purchased on Apr 2018?
    Thanks much!

If I was in your shoes, I would fly to NJ or NY to get $4500 rebate on 2017. That would only add a few more hours of driving I think. I live in NE, so I can't suggest specific dealers in NJ or NY though. Traveling to NE is another option, but will add at least 4 more hours of driving back home. 2018 is a carry over model, so there are really no difference from 2017 as I understand. Of course, being a year old model, as soon as you walk out of the dealer lot, it depreciate more than 2018 model, if resale value within a few year is something your are concerned with, then trying to get lowest possible 2018 model maybe better option. I would think in 5+ years, resale value of 2017 and 2018 will be quite similar provided they are the similar mileage and conditions. That's my 2 cents.

Reading your comment again, I just realized that you got $29,100 quote on Prime advanced which has $34K price tag on. That's more than $3000 off. In fact it is more than $4500 off. You may not find much better deal from many of NJ/NY or NE dealers who would only take off $4500 from MSRP.

Hi again guys. I threw out two prices w/trade in of my 07 prius, 20k for the premium, 24k for the advanced and the dealership has been calling and e-mailing me to come in. Should I have gone lower on my prices? lol I wasn't planning on visiting with them until the last few days of the month anyways, so I could use that to my advantage but was wondering if I should be thankful for the hard bite on these prices or if 1-2k more might be doable? Also, since I forgot to specifically state those prices as Tax, tag, title included, I'm pretty sure they're gonna try and add that on at the end. Still, suggestions? Dealer was in NJ.

Yes it’s a good deal. My only hang up on the deal is the moon glow interior. Both 2017 models have the White seats and I am not sure how much I like the looks.

What is the price of trade-in on your 07 Prius they are paying you? 20k on premium or 24k on advanced are great price, provided you are getting fair market value on your trade-in.

Yes, you are still eligible for the federal $4,503 tax credit on the 2017 Prime's (as long as you are buying the car new of course).;)

It's definitely a great deal, but I have to agree with your reservations about the moonglow interior. Despite having a great price offered from a dealer in Maryland I just couldn't pull the trigger on the white interior and ended up having a local dealer find me one with Black Interior.

Hi everyone, new to the forum, in the market for a Prius prime, local dealer here in Northern California is offering $30600 before tax and license for a 2017 Prius Prime Advance in Blizzard. What do you guys think about that price? Looks like there's more discounts on the Premium. Any help would greatly be appreciated!

well last year I went to two dealers without any intention whatsoever of buying a car to gauge what they'd give me for the car as a trade in. I was able to get each of them to agree to 4500 when I was at 80k miles. I'm at 100k now, and judging how kbb and other sites adjust for mileage, I was still spitballing around 4k.

So basically, 24k for Premium, 28k for advanced. Still good price.

Thanks much. Yes, for buying new.
For a 2018 model, I received a quote for $28,036 before taxes. Even with credits, it seems a little pricey (yaris or elantra or used hybrid comparison). I love prius prime but just don't see the value spot clearly yet. Much solid all rounders like CRV's with 1.5 Turbo ICE go for 28k to 29k exl awd.

San Francisco Toyota on Van Ness. I worked with Anthony Hom. He was an awesome salesman, straight and to the point, and no dancing around pricing.
