I received my Prime with a full tank on 09/16/17.
I filled it up to 7/8 from 1/4 tank just about New year's.

Long story short, per the gauge I used up one full tank's worth of gas as of today. That's 24 weeks and approximately 2400 miles (I use it mostly for commuting to/from work).

Well, the data are in for my first two years. I drove about 8000 on electric ($210) and 3350 on gas ($139).
    The conclusions are:
    that gas prices are being artificially held down to drive large battery hybrids off the market, and;
that electric rates are way too high! :(
Money out of pocket: $0.041/mi for gas; $0.026/mi for electric. But, that includes lots of "free" fill-ups, and cut-rate ($0.18/kWhr) fill-ups at the Chargepoint station. If all fill-ups were at the house ($0.21/kWhr), it would be $0.039/mi.
    Gas-only has been 64 mpg.
If the money I'd spent on electric was bought as gas, the equivalent "mpg" would be 100 mpge, and the aggregate would be 86 mpg.
If full-priced electric, it would be 68 mpge, and the aggregate would be 67 mpg.
When EPA does their "mpge" they must be using a higher cost of gas, or a more liberal mi/kWhr rate - mine is only 5.4 on average. (They use 33.7 kWhr/gal, which at my electric usage would have been 182 mpge. Obviously I'm a leadfoot.)
Attached is the pretty picture, showing the seasonal effects of winter, etc.
The Monthly Drive Monitor for mi/kWhr tracks quite closely with the amount charged from the plug (I minimize my use of A/C and heat), whereas the mpg reading on the dash is just as optimistic as on the Gen III.
(The Kill-a-Watt that I measure electrical usage at the house may not be the most accurate device, plus I'm sure I've messed up or misrecorded a few readings.)

Very interesting data. So, how did you calculate your EV and HV miles?

I also have two years old PRIME but my miles driven is bit more than yours. It is around 33K now of which 11K on EV and 22K on HV. My electric rate is similar to yours at $0.19/kWh, but our gas must be cheaper than yours (average $2.442/gal). With my current overall average 4.8miles/kWh EV efficiency and 81mpg overall aggregate mileage which comes out to be just 54mpg on pure HV, I get $0.045/mile for both EV and HV, dead even.

    With tongue firmly in cheek!
And, I figured that if there just the tiniest advantage of driving electric, vs the large advantage that I thought there would be, there must be some nefarious reason.

Whenever I switch to HV mode, I reset my Trip B, and record the miles in my log - once I switch, I typically stay there until I shutdown. I also reset my Trip B every time I recharge, but the EV miles are from the odometer readings between charges, less the HV miles driven that trip. I use Trip A for fuelups, but I haven't checked to see how close the EV percent is to what I calculate manually from my log.

Well here is mine. So far I'm up to 5,600 miles on the Prime and I'm at 500mpg for the cars life so far. I am able to commute to the office and back on just EV mode. So the only time we use gas now is just for all day grocery shopping trips or weekend vacations. I think I'm currently at about 1,500 miles on this tank of gas with about half left.

Just got my prime last week. I'm able to commute back & forth purely in EV mode. However this morning the gas engine started to run when the car was in "EV Mode" & "Eco Mode". It did for few minutes & switched off. I tried changing many things like switching back & forth between "EV Mode" & "EV Auto", but I couldn't shut gas engine off. It turned off after about 5 minutes. And after about 10 minutes when I parked the car, i heard gas engine running.

Is it a bug in my prime or it's a feature where the gas engine runs every few miles or few days?
