Oh, dear - was anyone injured?

It'll be interesting to see if insurance repairs it or writes it off - keep us informed.

Wow, just Wow! I am sorry about the accident. I hope no one got seriously hurt. Do you keep two drive monitor cameras for front and back?

Glad you came out okay, although I'm guessing the car is totaled. Too bad the sun's glare keeps you from seeing if the driver was looking down at his phone when traffic slowed down, but he must have been, he certainly can't claim that he had the sun in his eyes, he had perfect visibility and lighting.

A little bit of image processing appears to show something held up in his left hand. It also shows the value of front collision avoidance systems... His "radar" seems to have been looking up where the sun doesn't shine. Good DashCam BTW, a "people cam" running just about anywhere these days would show most of them with their attention focused on their phones that they'd walk right off a cliff in mid-sentence or mid-screen staring. Now those I'd find amusing. Sorry this one was driving something that damaged you...

... for at least 6 seconds before impact. This incident evidence is exactly what dashcams are for.

My rear cam is mounted at the top left of the lower window, so wouldn't get the same glare. But that vertical glass does get more dirty, so I have to wipe it clear over the rear cam more often. And the wiring to the hatch door is not so great.

Not sure if anything would have helped in this particular situation as far as glare, the sun seemed to be almost directly in the "eyes" of the camera.

Wow. Looks like a classic case of not paying attention on the part of the guy in the truck. Something similar happened to my wife about 8 years ago, but it was a semi truck instead of an F series.

Sorry about your accident, but very cool you had the video.

Looks like at least one airbag deployed. If you had Safety Connect and it was active, did they call you and 911?

No everyone walked away within minutes! We were both very grateful no one else was involved. The guardrail protecting that sign absorbed most of the front impact and saved me from the wall behind it. Yes, I use an older Transcend for the rear and Street Guardian for the front.

No airbags deployed as he was traveling maybe about 65 mph and I was at 40 mph at the time of the accident. So maybe a 25 mph hit? I do not have a safety connect subscription. But the Prius did turn the radio off by itself and applied the parking brake on its on. I think it also switched to accessory mode too.
Yes the sun glare is an issue with the Transcend camera. I will need to look into modifying it. The street guardian has no sun glare issue. When the car flips around to go against traffic you can see that there is no glare.
