Looking at a well priced 2013 Prius C with 22,000 kms in Canada Asking $14,800 Cdn Includes set of winter tires but no rims Clean history From buyer says has been driven lately/daily but at one time was sitting for few months at a time How concerned should I be that it is now 4 + yrs old ? Minimal kms on car itself is nice but will it affect the batter in a negative way and how much ? First Prius purchase, added to garage of a 16 Tacoma. Will mainly drive in city w some highway 100kmh trips here and there Have test driven one and enjoyed it. Had previously a 2013 Yaris and really enjoyed it Thanks in advance Ryan
i don't think it will be a problem at all. if it were 10 years old, i would be a bit more concerned. you should get great performance for a good 10 more years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first, but i wouldn't overpay for the low miles. all the best!
It seems fair in price and low kms would be bonus My concern is the age of batteries now Plan is to drive till falls apart or accident
if you're gonna keep it that long, budget for a new battery down the road. what is the warranty there?
I agree with the bolded. I'd pay the book value price, but not above it as having very low miles isn't necessarily a good thing with a hybrid, compared to a gas engine car. OP: I'd get a carfax and see the details. For example, when the car gets registered every year, there should be an update on mileage. Look to see if there is anything unusual.
I agree. I’d almost want more kms on it I’ll get more info tomorrow when meet seller and test drive As for asking price, it’s priced well for our region Think I will pull a Carproof just to get that piece of mind. Though I believe it won’t show every year and it’s km. Will show only when new owner the current kms
So I be found a 2014 w 54,000 kms on it. Well priced with extra set of tires Will be travelling to see it. Feel better that has appropriate kms on it Seen the first one in question.. rear bumper gap was off and had piece of glass under seat while I was hooking up child seat... as well seen a mobile batter charger in front ! Thinking was for 12 v battery though. Kinda put me off
I've bought a used 2012 Prius with 72k on it in the past and it was awesome, no issues at all. I just bought a 2014 Prius C with 90k for a similar price as above (Tech Package) It's doubtful that you will have any problems unless it sat for a very long time. You might get hints about this from the carproof.
Hypothetically, a car could have been in an accident, then was resold to a buyer looking to fix it on the cheap and flip it. The time it sat around before being repaired enabled to the car to have low miles. I've heard there are ways for a salvaged vehicle to be listed with a clean title- it can be a dirty business. Also, salvaged Prii lose their traction battery warranty.
Thanks for replies I ended up buying a 14 Prius C w tech package/leather/sunroof Well priced, what we wanted, clean Carproof one owner and met the owner. She was an employee who traded it in at a dealership Flew 2 hours for it and drove it back Well enjoying it since. Is a keeper
