Just did 2500 miles to a distant ski area. Four things to mention.

When I set the cruise to 88 mph out in the deserted interstate highways out west, I got 38 to 42 mpg. All things considered that is very good. During the Canadian leg of the trip, backing down to the 110kph limit there (70mph) the MPG's went up in to the low 60s. Wind resistance increases at the square of velocity.

For all the talk of lack of back support, well, I took my inflatable lumbar pillow, and never used it. Sure some lumbar support like the seats in my 03 Suzuki have would be nice, but my back never complained, and I did not experience discomfort on four nine hour drive days.

I love how even at high speeds when extra power is not needed, the hybrid system keeps the motor at such low RPM's that it can't be heard . Of course this does not apply to climbing upgrades.

Lastly, it seems I am one of the few '16 early adopters that got the setup that cannot display metric speeds. I find that rather annoying. Really Toyota, you would do that?

My 2016 is the same. It's not just a software update, they'd have to replace some of the parts in the dash, because the spot where that setting exists is not on our cars. I think it's a bug, not a feature.

Your profile is blank. Where are you from - we have no idea which country you come from. Apart from part of your trip being in Canada. MPGs are irrelevant unless we know if they're Imperial or USA.

Pretty safe bet he's US, but yeah.

Most I ever do is 80 kmh, much easier on the mpg, liters per 100 km, whatever.

Probably safe to say he's USAnian if he's complaining about a 2016 Gen 4 that doesn't have the MPG to Km/L switch.

I know your right, but I thought bugs were faults that could be corrected relatively easily or cheaply. I don't think the snag we're talking about falls into either of those categories. (n)

Maybe I should have said "Toyota committed the sin of omission". I guess I should have used the /s tag.

Since previous generations in the US had this feature, it should be considered a bug. @Prius Team made it pretty clear that Toyota just considers this a missing feature.
For those how travel to Canada, especially those close to the border, it is indeed a bug. Some people did their research and saw the feature in the online manual and still got stuck with a car that could not be changed.

Rather late for you to get going, isn't it?

I just got 29 MPG on a trip between Phoenix and Palm Springs with heavy headwinds all the way. Normally I get in the mid 50's even climbing over the pass in calm weather at 80 mph. Wind resistance is a huge factor.

I haven't had my new Prius on a trip yet, I will be heading south the middle of next month for a few days and am curious what I get on the highway at highway speeds. My old one usually got between 48 and 50.

My new one being black and so cool looking it should do better.

My apologies. I tend to refrain from blindly sharing personal details anywhere on the 'net. Colorado is the answer. My mention of miles should give away the clue that I live in the (backwards in some ways) USA. We still are not on metric? Personally I'm embarrassed.

Don't be embarrassed. You are welcome to conceal your location on here if you want. As George Orwell wrote in his novel "1984" - Big Brother is Watching You! All this was well before f-book, etc and probably even before the internet!

Wow, If I maxed out at 80kmh I think it is a safe bet I'd be doing much, much better than 62mpg/ 3.79L/110km !

Off topic, but ad blockers , tracker blockers, cookie restrictions, and keeping as much distance from google and Facebook as possible has been my SOP for a few years now. Don't look now , but Ghostery tells me there are seven trackers on this page right now, FB & google are two of them. Blocked.

Born before the middle of the last century, I have read 1984 although it was well before that year arrived. You should have a read. It would not be quite so shocking these days as it was back then.
